I don't have any guesses on what's wrong, but I did just want to say thank you for your content. It was a rough weekend, but I'm spending my evening binge watching your stuff and it's really helped relax me and help me calm down.

For me just replacing the jumper pack resolved my issue, There are aftermarket jumper pack on Amazon for about 10-11$, for some reason the jumper pack turn bad on n64, I reasearch a lot but no one seemed to mention this fix, a lot said to clean it and reinstall it but sometimes it can fix, but sometimes the jumper pack is just bad.

Had a similar symptom on mine. I put some flux around the flat pack ICs and reflowed some solder and it sprang back to life.

DK64 requires, and came with (at least in North America) with the expansion pack. You removed the jumper pack with a spoon (yes, really, if you don't have the special tool) and inserted the expansion pack.

Just using the expansion pak cover itself is easier just put the corner in the top edge and push down

Just had a problem with no signal. All I needed to do was to clean the connector and game cartridges' pins.

Looks like there's been some kind of barbecue around the U10 marking. Three traces seems to be gone. Maybe leading to pins 55, 56, 57 on the CPU.
@TheRetroChannel2 жыл бұрын
I did inspect that one and it's just some black ink. But you are looking at the right side of the board, just wrong area 😉
@PerBengtsson2 жыл бұрын
@@TheRetroChannel Oh, I thought that was it. It looks like ink most of the time but in one close-up it looked really messed up. Guess I'll just wait for the next video then 😀

I had no audio on one of my n64's and it was simply a capacitor that needed replacing.

13:01 I am getting 24v here, and everything is double like 3.5v is 7v and 5v is 10v, what could it be if font is OK (I got 2 n64 and 2 fonts to test) ?
@TheRetroChannel Жыл бұрын
Oh that's very strange, are you checking the voltages with both a cartridge and expansion/jumper Pak installed? I've found the voltages will be quite different with both of those removed. BTW, an easy place to check the voltages is on the 2 SMD capacitors on the top side of the board near the power jack
@jacsonmiranda Жыл бұрын
@@TheRetroChannel I am checking on the back where we connect the power suply. It's double there, 24v and 7 (3 and 6 points) my font is 110v/220v but for both tests I see same result
@jacsonmiranda Жыл бұрын
@@TheRetroChannel same font with my other n64 it works, not sure this is the problem, should it work with 24v?
@TheRetroChannel Жыл бұрын
If it's working with the other N64 then it should be ok I guess. Sounds like there's an issue with the measurements as if the N64 was indeed receiving double the voltage it surely wouldn't work
@jacsonmiranda Жыл бұрын
@@TheRetroChannel this is may distracting the real issue, can be no video/audio capacitor issue? Tested from other n64 font - ok jump pack - ok cartridge - ok this n64 is pretty new (2000) and it look so good, no corrosion or any mark

You'd think friends when giving you stuff for them to service, would make at least a slight effort of wiping it down? But it somehow never happens.

I'm wondering if they are aware N64 can't connect to an HD TV.
