I'm legit tearing up right now. This was me and my brother...he's 13 years older than me. We used to play street fighter 2 on the super nintendo together all the time. I'm almost 40 now and my brother just moved 5 states away after living in the same town together for almost 25 years. We grew apart but street fighter 2 keeps us together. The same about my 2 step kids. Both boys and 2 years apart. The oldest is turning 13 this year and wants to hang with friends and not his brother so much. This honestly brings back a lot memories of when my sister and I, along with with neighbors and cousins, would play Nintendo games all throughout our youth. From beating Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 on the SNES, to beating Super Mario World, to beating Super Mario 64, to unlocking everything in Super Smash Bros Melee, to several hours played in 100 pin Wii Sports Bowling, and more. My sister's time was short, as she was unfortunately killed in a fatal car accident last October. What hurts most is how incredibly close we were due to only being a year apart in age. I really connect with this. I fought with my older brother a lot but we got along great when we played games together. One day we’re playing Mario kart 8 deluxe and he says, “ I think this is going to have to be my last game.” I nearly cried, because the next thing know he’s getting on a bus for basic training... on my birthday. He may have hit me a lot, We may have disagreed in some things like taste in video games and music, but he’s still my brother. Thanks to the internet and mainly Discord I’m still connected to him and sometimes we play games together. This November he’s supposed to be going to Afghanistan (unless something changes, which it could). He won’t be seeing action since he’s just in infantry, but I can’t help but worry.
