I enjoyed the remakes, especially superstar saga, i played a lot of the gba one growing up and ill admit it felt like a bit of the charm was gone but was still great adding things like the jump mechanics introduced in later games and using the updated art style. But bowsers inside story just felt completely unnecessary (and i say that as possibly my favourite game of all time), I still loved it dont get me wrong, but there were no mechanics to fix or add the game was pretty much perfect and i actually preferred the DS art style, as well as it actually already being playable on the 3ds just made the release super questionable

My son is 3 and juuuuust about to discover gaming (He's been watching me play Paper Mario TTYD and demands to have the controller too and then just runs around and hides with Vivian and reappears and fucking LOVES when I pretend they're gone) so seeing Brothership REALLY made me happy for a game I can play with him soon. One of the many things I love about the M and L series is that the boss battles are so good but challenging in a fun way. On my recent re-play through of the origami king, when I got to the boss fights a lot of them were unintuitive and I had to look them up to beat them. In preparation for the direct, I replayed BiS, SS, and PiT and I have to say, the boss fights were phenomenal. They were intuitive enough that I could figure it out with a bit of fiddling but they weren’t to easy that I didn’t have to think much about them. It was so satisfying figuring out a boss and its attack patterns, how to dodge the boss , how to counterattack, and I was left with a satisfying feeling after winning. Origami king just left me with a “phew, finally it’s over” feeling. I love origami king and paper Mario in general, but Mario and Luigi will hold a special place in my heart for the awesome mechanics, the excellent (pun intended) gameplay, and the superb storytelling.While watching the direct I screamed and cried when I saw Lou jump outta the bushes because I was so happy we are back. Sorry for rambling but I’m just so happy about my boys returning 🥹. Nintendo just did what Nintendo previously Nintendon’t. Thank you Nintendo you resurged my faith in you. Take note of the timeline of this since ALL of these returning mario RPGs were right after the Mario Movie. There is a ton of love for Mario and the movie showed that the movie can make it grow exponentially. So they did probably plan around that and said “Hey, since we are exploring more of Mario’s world in the movies, let’s make it easier to be able to pluck anything from the games, and since there are RPGs we can use, let’s push them out and see how the community likes it.” So I wouldn’t doubt they are keeping their options open with the RPGs and if they can use them any time in their multi marketing juggernaut.

Not only that, but between X Box laying off people left and right and the stuff going on with Sony, Nintendo has a great opportunity to overtake them both. Amd between the Mario Movie's hype, the remasters of 2 iconic and beloved RPGs, a great new addition to the 2D Mario Bros in the form of Wonder and a new game for the Mario Luigi series, this is the perfect time to strike. Not only that but with Pikmin 4, Tears of the Kingdom, Echos of Wisdom incorporating the top-down 2D Zelda style game and Metroid Prime 4. Nintendo is going strong in games.

Nintendo can really make this work with 3 different Mario RPG series; tactical RPG with Mario & Rabbids (might have a limit though, maybe just one per gen if it continues), Paper Mario (but classic style; you're Mario and you gain partners to help out in battle and explore, the more traditional RPG battle system, the focus on story and witty dialogue) and then Mario & Luigi (focused on the brothers, together, strong emphasis on leveling up stats, combo attacks and blocking/countering, exploration using actions of both characters and again story and writing). They can all easily exist, space them out a year or two from each other. (I think RPG was just a gift and I appreciated it, it told its story)

Ocarina ground up remake with adding the cut content from the OG( thawing Zora’s Domain, adding use of the medallions, adding a light temple, access to the sacred realm etc,.) Twilight Princess, and Wind Waker remakes would be so nice as well!

When I saw the trailer for Mario & Luigi Brothership I was in "LET'S FREAKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" mode. I played Partners in Time and Dream Team for many hours and Partners in Time was one of the first video games I ever played. It's just gonna take a bit to get used to the new graphics, which look stunning. Also a little fact: The reason why the Remakes for Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story were released for the 3ds was because Alphadream already had the assets to make those games on the 3ds family of system and it would save them time. But yeah, I'm absolutely happy that Mario & Luigi is back.

Nintendo has made Mario relevant for almost 40 years! That's unbelievable. Most franchises peeter out in 5 to 8 years, if they're lucky, while most games would be greatful to have a sequel or two at best. It's amazing that the Mario franchise has reinvented itself dozen of times and yet somehow keeps its core identity intact after all the dozens and dozens of games that have been produced in that time.

Story time, so during my last year of high school (which was this year) my teacher wanted a new game to play after she finished totk so I recommended Paper Mario the Origami King since she likes rpgs and we didn’t have anything else apart from Mario and Rabbids which definitely is a less standard rpg than paper mario or mario and luigi, she got the game and enjoyed it a ton, she finished the game and wanted more, sadly I told her nothing else but the original on NSO existed, which is still a fantastic game. She played it and still wanted more, so I said for her to play Superstar Saga on NSO, but suddenly Nintendo announced Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door HD, I game I never played because I grew up with the Wii but have always been interested in. She was so excited to play another paper mario game. She’s still playing it but I really hope she does get a chance to play the M&L series because those games are also such a blast.
