Max possible is 256 MBytes (2 Gbits), but it requires an adaptor as 256 MBytes chips are BGA, so it can’t be soldered directly in the G&W ! I have several with 256MBytes installed so it is confirmed to work ;)

On purpose they didn't inude extra memory like they did with the nes snes minis,in order not to have you easilly put stuff inside! If it was easier to hack i would have done it as well!
