TTYD on Switch 2 is gonna look super amazing on Switch 2! Really glad it’s backwards compatible with Switch 2 because it will still allow everyone to play it if they hadn’t already done so on Switch 1.

One of my biggest hopes for the system I think is that they've put in the time to make this backwards compatibility actually upgrade the games. It would be such a massive win if they were somehow able to provide these updated for free, it would immediately make me really interested in checking out some titles I haven't played in a long time. But I think that's kind of an unrealistic expectation considering what supposedly goes into updates like these. At the very least, that rumor about Botw running at 4k 60 fps with instant load times and a few mentions of 4k in different games' codes does tell us that upgrades are going to happen. But the pessimist in me really doubts they'll be free. If they are free, though, and most of them work largely seamlessly, I think they are deserving of a lot of praise. Just a related side note, we know basically beyond a shadow of a doubt that Switch 2 was delayed out of 2024. My theory is that resources going into backwards compatibility updates are what caused this delay. Nintendo have never had any experience with doing such a widespread launch of so many updates before, I could see it taking a lot of time considering how huge Switch's library is. Uh yeah not really anything else to say regarding that, just that I think that may be what happened. (The wait for April 2nd is already killing me)

Another game I think that could use a performance boost is Animal Crossing New Horizons. It starts off with a consistent 30 fps, but later on as the island develops and you add a whole bunch of stuff, the framerate takes a massive dip as it tries to load in objects that you placed all around your island every time you move. Not to mention you can see said objects popping in if there's a considerable amount of lag. It makes visiting some visually stunning dream islands other people made quite difficult to walk through because the lag makes it feel like you're trudging through a marsh.

For as much as I'd like this boost feature since PS5 and Xbox have them, but knowing how Nintendo can be sometimes, I highly doubt that backwards compatibility will have a boost feature because normally Nintendo has never really done that with backwards compatibility as they just simply do the bare minimum, and while I'm extremely happy that we have backwards compatibility in general and Switch 1 games will be preserved, personally I don't really expect a boost mode to happen and I honestly wouldn't get my hopes up for that.
