The personal stories in this video are great! They definitely bring this retrospective up a level.

Game Boy came out in the summer of 1989 in the US. I know because I bought one then. It came with Tetris. I bought Super Mario Land that same day.

My first was a red gameboy pocket my mother bought for me circa 1997. When she agreed to buy it for me I was like "Wait, what!? Youre actually gonna buy it for me?!😯😳". The gameboy line will always be dear to me as it was the 1st gaming console that was mine, all mine!

Glad the algorithm showed me this video bc I’ve loved the game boy system ever since I got my DMG back when it came out! Loved the story of your old man sometimes finding treasures at his work… must have been so cool to see the stuff he’d come across :) Looking forward to rest of series! (Also, are you going to be getting a chromatic? I got the GS one and absolutely adore the premium feel of the shell and the size comparable to the gbc:)

Great video! When you started talking about the GameBoy Light I was wondering how I'd never heard of that or seen one until you explained why lol

My first handheld growing up was a sega game gear. I enjoyed it pretty well.... until a kid brought a gameboy over to my house. Suddenly no one was interested in the game gear any more. The games were just "better" on game boy, even though the hardware wasn't as good. I lived in a trailer park. On the front of our trailer was an enclosed porch which was basically a kids room. We had a CRT down there. Sega Genesis, NES, etc... all of our other toys. We had friends over somewhat often... maybe once or twice a week. One day a relative of one of our friends came over with them, and they had the gameboy. Being forced to take a turn on the game gear was like hazing or something at that point. No one wanted to play anything else. A little later, we'd end up getting our own gameboy color consoles and pokemon red and blue. The gameboy line (DMG, Color, Advance) is one of my favorite platforms of all time. Lots of amazing games that still hold up decently today.

I live in South Korea and about 9 years ago I was at a flea market in Seoul (pre-collecting) and I saw a "ComBoy" GameBoy for $40USD. I didn't think much of it at the time, I just assumed that it was a bootleg. Once I got into collecting, I learned about the country variations, and yeah..... that ComBoy was no longer there when I returned a couple years later. The one that got away......

There are way too many Gameboy handhelds of all different colors and designs. I have quite a few Gameboy lights from trips to Japan in the past but I only have very few colors of original gameboy. I also had a lot of hours into Pokemon because that was the main game I played for Gameboy. This was an awesome video and thank you for reminding me of my childhood during the life of Gameboy

Honestly I want to know how you acquired the Sega GameCube Box Sets. Have never seen those before in person, and can’t think of anyone else I know that owns them either.
