Nintendo Switch supports up to 8 controls it's just that you can't connect the eight controls wirelessly, one of the controls must use a usb cable and be connected to the nintendo switch I know because I tried it to play Super Smash Bros 8P and my controller is exactly the same as yours

Thanks I was able to pair my pro controller while I had 4 sideways joy cons on but is it possible to add more sideways joycons?

The Switch supports up to 8 controllers wirelessly. So if 4 players are using two Joy-Cons each that's it. You can only have a 4-player have. If you have 8 Pro Controllers, you can have 8 players. Or you can have 8 players if the game supports single Joy-Cons. If any of the controllers are wired, you are still limited to 8.
