12:52 oh man, just when I was considering talking about this, Jon does it. When going off the top of the green or red slide you can hold to the side to clip against the wall and stop yourself, essentially adding an extra option for where you can go. Stuff like that is why this game is so much fun with players who know the ins and outs, and makes me miss the times where I could get together with friends and play Nintendo Land. One day we’ll get a sequel or port. One day.

The issue with Nintendo Land was it was such a good “tech demo” or more an example of what the wii u could be used for and, other than a handful (literally 4/5 games) of games, no-one used the touchscreen as anything other than a map!

There's a really useful trick on the slide level. If you're going down the slide that goes from the top to the bottom, start the slide as close to the side as you can and if it's close enough, before you begin sliding down the 2nd set you'll get caught on the wall and only go half way. When me and my friends found that out that level became a lot more interesting.

This game is so nostalgic, it was the unexpected gem of many sleepovers I had with my friends in the mid 2015’s before the Switch got more use than the Wii U. This game and Mario Party 10 were the perfect party games for 5 players

Man Mario Chas is fun. Played it a lot with some family friends a few months back. One thing I learned is how much of vision is based on movements for Toads so if you try and stay still in the mud you can actually have people overlook you from a distance.

Depending on the stage you can actually catch someone in 3 seconds. The slide stage was the one where you can actually capture people when you go down the slide.

I used to have Nintendo Land parties at my house with like 10 of my friends. We’d pass along Wiimotes and the game pad routinely throughout the night and just play all the games for hours on end. We...haven’t been able to do that for over a year cuz of Covid. This video makes me feel a mixture of deep melancholy and happiness in thinking back to those days. Thanks for posting :)

Not including the 6 default guest Mii's at the end I think one of them was Emile, but made with the Wii U's camera. I think there's another Masae one in there made with the camera as well. Beside the one Masae used, it kind of looks like Jules and Adri had a Mii of themselves as well (not 100% sure about these two though). Beside that we have Stephen and Mal's Miis which were so gloriously made with the camera. I think the two with the beady eyes are supposed to be Ness and Lucas.

I remember playing this game with my friends at my birthday party years ago and on the slide level I actually caught my friend in 3 seconds since he was at the bottom of the green slide and I slid down the green slide since it was slide I started next to and I ended up getting him. He was so pissed that he didn’t want to play Mario Chase anymore. That’s one of my favorite memories form years ago.

I'm pretty sure a ton of the competitive attraction stages are weighted in a certain teams favor. The ghost attraction has a stage where the light from lightning covers the whole stage, and one where there are statues that make detecting the ghosts location impossible.

10:20 actually, I disagree. Because of the bridges disappearing when Mario runs on them, if they use one you know exactly where they are, which is especially detrimental at the start. If the Mario player can get a nice lead then it gets easier, but I think it’s still fairly balanced. This comes from someone who has played way too much of this game with friends

I really hope this gets a Switch port/sequel someday. This was one of my favorite party games to play with family. I remember in Mario Chase, we used to tackle other Toads for fun, mostly to knock them down the slides. There was one time where we knocked a Toad down a slide and they ran into Mario at the bottom

I could still imagine there might be a port of the 2 zelda games (maybe even a package deal) but I could still see this game making the cut, it just depends on the logistics of how the multiplayer works and if nintendo thinks it's worth it

Fun to see you guys mess around in my favorite casual multiplayer game. I wish you’d made it a little more comprehensive, though. There are actually different variations of each map that grow in size and complexity the more players you have, and it’s also possible to play 1v1, thanks to some yoshi AI.
