Also I'm very active on Twitter so if you would like to come and check out all the work I've been busy doing please give me a follow. twitter.com/DragonsHoardMod To all of you that are just now finding out about the UltraHDMI kit I'm sorry to tell you that it has been unavailable for OVER 1 Year! I actually recommend getting a N64 RGB board installed and to couple that with the OSSC as it will give you similar results to the UltraHDMI. Plus having the OSSC give you TONS more HDMI options for most of your other Retro Consoles. If you're really wanting the OSD (On Screen Display) I would recommend finding the N64RGB Advanced board. I will leave a few links below..... OSSC videogameperfection.com/products/open-source-scan-converter/ N64RGB Board etim.net.au/shop/shop.php?crn=207&rn=561&action=show_detail Need an Installer? @blinkachu33943 жыл бұрын
Depends on whether the HDMI card upscales yes or no, some do, some don't. But it allows you to easily connect old consoles such as this to HDTVs, not only through the ease of use with just 1 cable rather than having to use something like an OSCC, but also the signal itself is way easier for the TV to recognize as its a digital signal out of the console, rather than an analogue one that needs to be converted by either the TV or a separate upscaler.

Great video! Just thought I'd add my tips, since I've done a few hundred of these. ;) First, there's usually no need to deliberately remove the Expansion/Jumped Pak. It'll typically pop off with the top shell! Next, make sure you lift the heat sink from the back (cartridge slot side) or you risk lifting the RAM, with only has enough pins on the back side. Third, the cart slot is removable in case you need more room to work. Just lift both sides evenly to avoid breaking the plastic wings. Probably a good idea to look under there anyway and try to remove debris that has settled. Some of them look really nasty even though it's usually just factory flux leftovers and a little dust/hair. Fourth, the cable has notches that you are supposed to fold between in order to make your two folds. It's usually best to make that first one before you make your PIF/via connection. Last, make sure you slot the heat sink tabs inside both sides of the Expansion/Jumper Pak slot before you screw anything else down to ensure proper alignment. I can't count how many times I've found it improperly seated after someone else has been inside (typically when I salvage someone's failed UltraHDMI install).

Well the ones in the N64 are already very nice high quality caps and have already lasted 25+ years. I consider this to be preventative maintenance and would hope that the new high quality caps I use would last another 25+ years. However some consoles have extremely piss pore quality caps and if haven't been recapped by now have probably leaked and done damage to the board! Like the Sega Game Gear, Sega CD or NEC Turbo Duo all had shit 90's era SMD caps.

Dragons Hoard Gaming oh wow. I didn’t realize there is an off chance of old caps damaging the board :o I’m just starting to learn about this stuff. Thanks the PSA!

So, how hard are these hdmi kits to find nowadays? Thx
@dragonshoardgaming55144 жыл бұрын
Impossible. If you do you will pay 3x the amount as the kit hasn't been released in over a year. I've been recommending the N64RGB board and OSSC as it can give you similiar results to the UltraHDMI. Links in my pinned comment.

@@dragonshoardgaming5514 wow! Excellent advice, and I heard the RGB mod is more straight forward/easier to do. I just wish it had the anti aliasing off mode. Just one more question? Why was it out of production?

Play a game for 10 to 15 minutes to warm up the heat sinks makes it really easy to disassemble.

Cool, why the compasator change?

Just some preventative maintenance to make sure the console is running at its best.

A dremel would have worked better with a chainsaw sharpening bit on low speed its more precise
@dragonshoardgaming55144 жыл бұрын
In my experience dremels like to grab and I'm just not comfortable taking the risk of damaging a customers console. I've hand filed 100's of HDMI ports since this video so I've gotten a lot better. Thanks!
