Awesome review. I loved this game in the arcade growing up.

This arcade game was released in 1984, between the 1983 North American VG Crash and the year Nintendo of America released the NES. The NES version is the most recognizable, due to home-gaming being more convenient than arcade-gaming. A similar thing happened to Tecmo's Star Force, Namco's The Tower of Druaga and Irem's Kung-Fu Master arcades.

@KaneRobot There are two sets of sounds. Each monitor handles the sounds of one of the two sets individually. If one of the monitors sound output is not working or if there is a board issue it is possible to have only half the sounds. So, it is possible that one of monitor's volume controls are turned all the way down or there is a problem with one of the monitor's sound amp or it is a board issue.

It has 2 monitors but how much hz did it have? Plus they had 1080p 144hz lcd monitors especially Benq but would it work as a replacement for the top screen if it was monitor problem or was the a game itself an issue?

Congrats on getting that cabinet. I can just imagine how hard it is to find an original Punch Out. It looks like the restoration came out great. Thanks for sharing the view.

If you notice the the eyes on the fighters until you become champion. They turn yellow which means they are fixing to attack you. Also, when they back off and then come at you, if you time it right. you can knock them out with one shot.

If it's been sitting outside or in a shed unattended for years. Mice could chew away at the wood or find an opening and they would live in there.

It's 1989, I'd miss many high school classes to end up at the arcade to play Punch Out (that was just before the Street Fighter 2 era). I'd play so much that it became very easy and I could not be defeated. I could time my uppercut to hit Bad Bull through his charge. The last time I played is when I reached 999 999 and my score actually came back to zero. I was so disappointed ;-)

Punch-Out is the second best arcade game of all time, with Super Punch-Out being the best arcade game of all time. If I walk into an arcade and there's no PO and/or SPO in there, I don't consider it to be much of an arcade.

Nice job on the restoration. I just tracked down one of these for a friend. The condition wasn't nearly as bad as what you started with here - which is good because I know zero about restoring cabinets and my knowledge of the inner workings is pretty much limited to adjusting dip switches. I noticed yours has more sound effects than mine - crowd noise, music when you lose, etc. Do you know if this is a setting, or is this something they added with a later revision?

0:31 ...How do mice get in an arcade cabinet?
@clamshell68634 жыл бұрын
It was either set outdoors in front a department store which was very common in it's early days of arcade or they might have had more in a place or club it was located in. Nice can get through the holes on the sides or back of arcades and we're known to chew up the wires.
