What if the joy-con release button also doubles as a trigger button for use when holding them sideways? It would add an extra trigger on each join, they’ll just be on opposite sides.

I think the big button on the back of the joycons will also be a 3rd trigger for when you turn the joycon on the side bridging the gap between single joycon sideway use and any other controller.

Nope! Not a trigger. I was told by my source who works with accessory making, they were told it is a joy con pull out release button. They need to know this info when making accessories to make sure they don't get in the way of any particular important feature.

Yeah I clicked, but just went to the comments… not sure I want to be saturating my mind with Switch 2 images, real or otherwise until when the real thing drops, I’m already bored. We’ll get it when we get it. (Trust me, I’m ready to get an upgrade too. I plan on having a big OLED TV this spring, and I’m hoping the Switch 2 can do it some justice, and isn’t just a more stable Switch. If it has PS4 Pro/Series S level graphics (HDR??), I’ll be psyched. Heck regular PS4 would still be a very noticeable improvement… hopefully closer to One X/Series S/PS4 Pro…. K I’m done lol

That’s not a release button, that’s the Z button. It would be extremely impractical to make a release button THAT big.

Eh, it would be a terrible trigger, and the original patents seem to suggest they are release triggers.

@ I have concerns with them being that large though. It would be way too easy to accidentally disconnect a controller under normal use. The old leaked models had the button much smaller, but this latest leak shows them so massive they might as well just be a shoulder button.
