There's not much room left for speculation, in just 2 months we'll have our answers, cause the next financial meeting is taking place on February 4th and there's no way on earth Furukawa will give the same "We will announce the successor within the fiscal year"- statement again when the fiscal year only lasts 7 more weeks at that point. At WORST he's gonna give us a concrete reveal date, though the odds are higher that they will have revealed the console by then already. Either way, this years-long era of speculation will end in 9 weeks at the most.

The PS5 reveal trailer came out almost exactly 5 months before it's launch on Nov 12, 2020. Nintendo can follow suit with a mid-January reveal so they have their February Direct for showcasing all the launch games.

Re Backwards Compatibility, I think the realistic case is "games with variable/unlocked frame rates and resolutions are always at their highest." The slightly better case is "Switch 2 handheld runs Switch 1 docked mode."

I think, without the October teaser and the amount of big games coming out through March, that mid-summer release of Switch 2 sounds about right. Launch color OPINION: A black and a white dock/jc combo. A minimal design on the dock. I think we'll have at least 3 color options for JCs aside from the box system colors. I don't think they'll do any of the same colors they already have out now. Probably 2 colors or pro controllers.

Switch is 100% hit PS2 in late 2025. It really doesn't need sell a lot in 2025 there not cutting line in 2025 they never price cut it. Level 5 even got switch games for 2026.

I don't know, unless there is a big price cut. People may drop the Switch like a hot potato and jump on to the new Nintendo system, particularly with heavily rumoured backwards compatibility on it. A really hefty price cut will probably tip it for sure though, especially if done before the reveal

Okay, I'm so excited to see Kirby Planet Robobot getting an HD remake for Switch since I have not played this game since I don't have a 3DS, but if they're doing this, I don't think the side story mode for Susie could be her backstory, but I think it could be a post-game where after the events with Star Dream, Susie helps try to find Kirby's Robobot Armor Suit and bring it back to Kirby like I would like that for a post-game for Susie as well as adding her moveset from Star Allies. But I know that they are also gonna fix the cutscenes, so hopefully, they can use the Star Allies Design of King Dedede instead of the Triple and Robobot design of him and also the Club Penguin design, which I hope is not that design of King Dedede. And also where the heck is Triple Deluxe at? I mean it would be nice to see Triple Deluxe be with Planet Robobot cause then we would have a two pack Collection for it and then we would have all the Modern 2D Kirby games in one console and then we would be all complete and also we would have a new side story mode for Taranza as well. So I can't wait to play this game when it comes out next year and hopefully I'll beat Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe 100% when it comes out.

Great video Nate and I am glad you are feeling better. A few things: I think the backwards compatible enhancements will be probably locked to online switch subscribers or some variation of it. My friend and I were talking about this a long while. The investors meeting is February 4th now which I actually guessed right among my friends 😂. So what do you think about the reveal now? I will say that I am a bit bummed out about a June release. If the chatter was about a May or June release all the way back in September, then why wasn’t that discussed earlier rather then in December. Just hate that I guess. I do obsess a bit about when it will be revealed because it’s just been too long for this announcement. I do believe we should have had a switch 2 now and the more we wait, the more some people do get less and less interested in it. Some of my friends are just not caring about switch 2 anymore sadly because of the wait. I just think Nintendo should definitely release this sooner because they can get scalpers out of the way fast before holidays kick in in 2025. I also think it’s kinda of stupid to release the switch 2 in the summer because one of the main draws of the switch system is portability and people take it anywhere especially outside. It’s going to be freaking hot in June. It wouldn’t ideal from what I’ve seen. I think the earlier the better. May would would work the latest but Nintendo had never released a system in may in almost any region funny enough. Also they will likely want to avoid doing anything in golden week in japan which is typically in the beginning of may but that could change. I could be wrong about this of course but just wanted to state my opinion. All in all, I do agree with the January/early February reveal date. Months ago like back in May I always had January as a fallback date for reveal, possibly February because of the directs/investors’s meeting stuff that month. We will see. If Nintendo wants too Break that Overall 160m Sold Target laid-down by Sony, which I feel Nintendo has Half an Eye on, they will have too have afew Big 1st Party Titles on the OG Switch, regardless if the Switch 2 is Released, especially if they Price Drop the OG Switch around a Big 1st Party Game, too try n get them few Extra Sales out of the System before it is finally over for good, another 15/16m is needed. If Nintendo isn't really worried about breaking the 160m Sold Target, then barring afew Crossover Titles, the OG Switch will get the Smaller Games until it's fazed out for good probably in 2026 or early 2027 for 10yrs up and maybe Nintendo is ok with the OG Switch being the Best Selling Nintendo System instead, rather than the Overall Best Selling System, it'll be interesting too see which way Nintendo goes about handling the OG Switch and Switch 2 when both on the Market. I would love too see for Backwards Compatibility but it'll never happen because of Two-Screens, is Physical n Digital 3DS Games being Playable on the Switch 2, I would be more than be happy with just Physical n Digital Switch Games being Playable on the Switch 2. I agree with Nate, I can see a Switch 2 Teaser Trailer in January 2025 and a bigger Overview Blowout in April 2025, with a Release in October/November 2025, ready for the Holidays.

The Switch Successor practically HAS to be revealed either late January, or given a solid reveal date at the Feb 4th Financial Briefing. So, either way, the first two months of next year should yield a look at the next console. I HOPE that Nintendo doesn’t drag out the reveal to release schedule more than it needs to be. 4 months is more than necessary. So - A late Jan / Early Feb reveal should theoretically see a May - June release. July is possible, but seems too late. Anything later than that is just obscene and unnecessary.

2 models? If production began in September or October, and not releasing until June, a 9 or 10 month window, 6-8 million is actually behind the pace set by Switch 1, even though factory capacity is about 50% greater now than in late FY2017, early FY2018. 6-8 million for a single SKU is more of a March or April expectation if the factories have already started and are going to ramp up anything close to the 2.4 million units per month they were able to churn out in FY2021, even assuming several hundred thousands per month worth of capacity still dedicated to Switch 1 and assuming a similar ramp-up pace to Switch 1 (around 6 months.) So could this 6-8 million number be for one SKU, and we're overlooking several million units of a second SKU? If its a single model, we need to see a lot more than 8 million by June, or see a release date with 6-8 million a month or two earlier, or else there's unexplained problems related to factory capacity and ramp-up pace.

19:05 👉 160.6 Million PS2 units...? So the Switch got only 18 Million units left 😮 A Permanent Price Cut in 2025 and Production till 2027 could do the trick.
