Just want to give a heads up this a great video step by step process. I just changed mine using this video. ONE THING I DO WANT TO POINT OUT IS. GETTING THE ACTUAL BATTERY OUT IS A LOT HARDER THAN YOU THINK. YOU CANT JUST “gently” take it out. it’s practically super glued on there. It took me about 30+ mins just trying to safely pry the battery off. Also LOTS OF SCREWS be very careful and don’t mix them! it’s a lot easier if you leave them separate in order you take them out so you can work backwards.

@enakcma4 жыл бұрын
It's better to start gently prying up the old battery from wired side, as there's a sloped area underneath there to better fit an improvised non conducting pry tool to remove the battery. Don't bend or rupture the battery.
@robhallquist1140 Жыл бұрын
Excellent analysis. Once I pried from this side the battery was much easier to remove. Thank you!

Yes, that is a good advice. What I did is cut the credit card into 5 thin pieces, stuck one after another, (the next piece comes under the previous one or in between previous pieces) at different angles. Push them as far as you can, lift them a bit until you are able to stuck the iFixit card above the pieces, below the battery. Push the card until you break through that cement.

It actually is glued in place, I suspect the battery was already removed once before they shot this video so the glue was no longer there. If you watch other videos (like JerryRigEverything) you will see that the battery is in fact glued down and you can risk damaging it by attempting to remove it

WARNING: This is a good video, BUT there is adhesive under the existing battery and it makes it hard to take off, I looked around a few videos and found that most people are going in from the bottom with a spudger (Don't apply too much pressure) and also using a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive. Be careful I was using medium heat as to not overheat the battery because I think if you put it on high for too long it could rupture the battery. Also when they tell you take off the 5 screws for that silver plate there are 6 screws at least on mine there was so make sure they are all off before you lift the plate.

I don't know if anyone else did this, but I accidentally stripped two of the SEVEN (not five) screws when attempting to remove the metal plate. It's ok, don't panic. As long as you get most of the screws out, you can bend the metal plate until it snaps and leave the stubborn screws inside. This isn't ideal, of course, so try to be careful, but you really don't need all of those screws. As long as you remove the plate, you can bend it back later. It is very malleable metal. Be careful to avoid damaging components underneath when prying it up though.

"Follow this guide to replace the battery in a Nintendo Switch gaming console. The battery is heavily glued in and will require adhesive remover to make replacement possible. Before disassembling your device, discharge the battery below 25%. The battery can catch fire and/or explode if accidentally punctured, but the chances of that happening are much lower if discharged. If your battery is swollen, do not heat your Switch. Use a dropper, or syringe, to inject isopropyl alcohol (90+%) underneath the battery to weaken the adhesive. Swollen batteries can be dangerous, so wear eye protection and exercise due caution if attempting removal yourself. Take it to a professional if you’re not sure how to proceed."

Curious do you know how much charging would it take to noticeably degrade the Switch's battery? I usually charge it after every play time and take it off the changer right as it reaches 100% (sometimes overnight if I fall asleep before then).
@halami21493 жыл бұрын
It helps to take it off the charger at 80%, keeping the battery hovering around 50% is the best. But 80-90 is way less strain than 100% every time. As for how much time it’ll take, it depends. It’s probably good for at least 500 charge cycles, when you get close to 1000 then you’ll notice major battery degradation, probably
