Good thing the screen isn't easy to scratch. i have a bad habit of accidentally swiping away at a screen with a knife and not even realizing it, one moment i'm cutting food and then a few seconds later i have like ten new scratches on my 3ds. this video has just renewed my interest in buying the switch again. This video was very helpful.

i guess the switch wouldnt have broke when you had taken off the joycons. because the shoulder buttons are sticking out the switch bends when you hit it with a hammer.it is also bend at the end of the video. I think it would have survived when the switch was flat on the table. But nevertheless its remarkable that this screen is so freaking strong.

People on here that say it didn't break because it is made of plastic is uninformed. He wasn't necessarily talking about the surface that you actually touch, but also the LCD beneath the plastic. That did not crack nor shatter. And that is impressive! I have seen drop test with this thing dropped onto concrete from 5 ft over and over and over and survive. I saw a video where a guy took it up 1,000 ft via a drone and dropped it on to a concrete parking lot and it survived! The JoyCons were destroyed, but the core system itself still worked. And the display (LCD and plastic cover) did NOT shatter nor break.

I got one of those battery cases, the first thing I said after putting it on with wow this doesn't add much bulk at all, 2 weeks later I take it off to charge separately for a road trip. And then I realized how light and thin the Nintendo switch actually is, it was basically one of those f this is heaven moments now I can dye happy. The console screen IS NOT GLASS! It is plastic. It doesn't crack but it scratches easily. They don't make phone screens out of plastic because phones are in your pocket all the time with keys and other miscellaneous items and it would scratch up like crap. But the switch is designed to be used by kids who would drop it and Nintendo doesn't want them to crack the screen. It you plan on having this is a backpack or bag than an screen protector is a must so it will not get all scratched up. Thank you for reading my rant.

I don't like how flimsy the screws connecting the joy-con housing to the main body, but then again that was the main reason why the Nintendo switch and survive a 1000 foot drop from a drone without so much as shutting off. Those screws were torn to shreds but it didn't break the ribbon cable holding the joycon in. But holding the Nintendo switch with one hand leaves much to be desired
