I agree that in some cases you don't need every ground pad but in cases where there are vias that connect to those pads then I think you may need those connected. In cases where there are two vias connected on one pad you may need to at least connect the two vias. Sometimes they are needed not just for full power delivery but some devices need them for detection of a proper cable capable of full power. It's tedious but sometimes necessary.

great attempt brother. Fix or None, its an experience that viewers value and learn from. The way you drown the pads in flux and then go over it with soldering pen with some solder on them is still a technique I am yet to master and this video I learned how the ground pads dont need to be replaced and as for the pads and soldering application for reflow, its best to flux out and make sure the flux is coverin the pads and then run the solder pen with solder quickly and the pads will flow and pickup the solder quickly. Thaanks Alex. :). Wish you would disclose the solder tip size? I am still waiting since March 23 haha. Please comment here or text me back if possible when you're free for a second. Weller wXMP what size tip or part number, thanks in advance :). - Ari

I have been using conductive gold and silver paints on repairs on my Soviet quartz watches as I haven't the skill to do little wires and I can make nice little tracks if I mask it off carefully enough. The problem is when the battery's go on these old CCCP quartz beasts, usually the owner just chucks it in the drawer and forgets about it and few weeks down the line the battery explodes inside and because the circuit board traces are micron thin tracks, the battery acid neatly dissolves unprotected areas before munching on the viton sealing rings turning the whole insides into a black goo corrosive mush and a lot of work as the coils end up dissolving as well.

Perhaps the issue is actually with one of the ICs, but the other guy tried the basics too (and botched the USB-C port and left a mess to boot) but gave up under time and parts constraints?
