As I go back and look at these older videos, I see things that handicapped you that are made easy now with the new techniques and tools. But, to make pads out of wire, I would have put the wire on a piece of metal like an anvil and then hammered it to flatten it out to make a more receptive pad. Now you have those premanufactured pads with wire attached that is so much more useable. Good show for troubleshooting here. Thank YOU!

For testing purposes or if you don't have the filters you could just run a wire to connect the solder pads. It shouldn't make a big difference in the final result and the console would still work.

You know so much in this field. It is impressive! I'm just beginning to get into this field as a hobby. I bought what I know is a good multimeter (Fluke 117 Model). But, as I'm very new to this, and picking this up because I want a hobby, what do I set the meter to in order to detect shorts? I know that this is a very elementary question. But you have to start somewhere.

Hello, how are you? I recently repaired a Nintendo Switch with the same problem, I changed the P13USB and a filter that was in cut and problem solved, however when connecting to the dock it does not give the TV image, if the usb connector is ok and all the pins have continuity with the board, what problem could it be ? I would really appreciate if you could help me, I really like your videos, I'm from Chile.

It's a very common problem. The video chip gets blown when a charger that is too powerful (or often any non Nintendo official charger) is plugged in. I have the same fault in my switch board but I really need to buy a microscope because running a wire to that filter (I have a missing pad) is really difficult because of how tiny the pads are under that chip
@em0_tion4 жыл бұрын
I get how a low quality replacement adapter might cause issues, but how is a more powerful charger blowing the video chip? Do you mean a charger that supplies more voltage than the device requires?

Superb!!! I really enjoy your competency and how you make quick survey to deal with problems. Boss I have an important question for you. Please l would like to know the kinds of FILTERS and CAPACITORS that are perfectly suitable for each device. For example; you replaced the damaged filters with 2.0 filters in this video. Do all phones use the same filters and capacitors? Or do iPhones have different filters and capacitors from Android phones? Also,do all laptops use same kind of filters and capacitors? Please kindly give me a list of devices and their respective types of filters and capacitors they use. Example: 1. iPhones (all versions/models) 2. Laptops (all versions) 3. Tablets and iPads(all versions) 4. Xbox Etc....... I will be much appreciated if you can educate me on this subject. Have a productive day 😘.

The first resistor, right up from the charging port, you stated it was a zero ohm resistor. I have been having all types of issues trying to find one because I was told it’s a fusable resistor. Can you give the values on a replacement one because I don’t have a donor board.

@jdevonlim4 жыл бұрын
Really enjoying your channel. I have a question if you or anyone else doesn't mind sharing. You do a lot of short circuit testing with a multimeter on the capacitors. 1. Are all capacitors on the motherboard meant to have one side grounded to a single ground point? I've got some capacitors that are not grounded on both sides. 2. What does it mean when you test for continuity on both sides of a capacitor and the meter shows continuity? 3. Why does it seem like most problems are to do with the capacitors or IC chips? What about resistors and other components? 4. Last question was my touch screen isn't working on my Switch, but after replacing it, it still doesn't work. Is there an IC that controls this? I have found about 6 capacitors that are grounded on both sides on the front and back of the motherboard, don't know if I should replacement them and don't know how to find the values of them either. Any help would be appreciated. :)

How do you make solder wicking look so easy? When I use it on charge port pin holes it never seems to clear them completely. What am I doing wrong, more flux maybe? Solder had been mixed with low melt earlier before using hot air to remove it. Keep up the good work!
@em0_tion4 жыл бұрын
Higher quality flux/solder maybe? Just get a test board and experiment with different consumables, even with different temps and techniques. Find out first hand, no answer will beat that personal experience with your own setup ;)
