Exactly! People should just be happy with what the Switch has to offer, because while the Switch may be less powerful than the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, let alone the now current generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the Nintendo Switch is still very good enough to contribute to the player's enjoyments upon first-party games! Nobody should care that the Switch graphics are lower-quality than the PS5 & XBS, because 1: Nintendo has made it clear that Graphics & Power ain't the most important factor to make a good system, 2: Switch is technically a handheld/portable system that just happens to be connectable to the TV Screen with multiple controllers, so that clearly excuses the Nintendo Switch's power-limits, considering Nintendo Handhelds went from being significantly weaker than the GameCube (New 3DS) to being more powerful than the WiiU (Switch), which is a very incredible transition of technology's evolution/enhancement in a matter of three years, and 3: the Nintendo Switch is actually far more powerful than the PS3 and has significantly better graphics than the Xbox 360, contrary to popular belief!

I owned a wii U. My brother used to make fun of me for buying one and loving it. I pre ordered a switch. He made fun of me called it the wii u 2.0 and that it would fail. After seeing me play BOTW for 5 mins then grab my console and continue playing as I went to my room, I saw the gears in his head turning. 2 days later he bought one. 😂

The Switch was the first console I bought with my own money as a "real" adult. I still have the photo of me in my Mickey Mouse pajamas, holding the box and my copy of BOTW. I also remember how incredibly excited I was, literally counting the days before Mario Odyssey. I had it marked on my calender and constantly had "Jump Up Superstar" playing in the background when I was doing homework for university. I still play my now OLED Switch every day and was watching this very video on it, only pausing to leave this comment.

Man, time flies by so fast. I was also 14 when it came out, I had just turned 14. I remmeber the excitement around the switch and BotW was so big. One if my friends got the switch as soon as it came out and he would bring it to school and show us in the morning before going to class. I had to play BotW on Wii U because my parents couldn't find a switch for a my birthday present becauae it was sold out everywhere. I got it for Christmas 2017 with Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2. So weird how its been that long, it really doesn't feel like it. I'm 21 now. I still play the switch regularly. Can't wait for the next Nintendo console, it has to be around the corner

Before I got the Switch, I watched gameplay of Super Mario Odyssey every night after come back home from work, I wanted to play that game so bad. When I got the Switch, that the first game I got, and that game made me feel like I'm being a kid again man, the joy that I had, everything, I hope I can realive the first time experience with that game. The same when I got BOTW as a second game I bought, I never thought it was that great, and I never a Zelda fan before, and that game made me obsesseddd. Plus with the portability and overall branding of Nintendo Switch, this console is a pure joy, one of the GOAT, a marvel (not the tech). I honestly didn't see it lifetime will end soon. I still see people that interested to buy this console for the first time. My nephew never get tired of it and never complain anything. Whatever people say about how ancient the tech in Nintendo Switch is, it is pioneering hybrid console/handheld market and you never experienced any other handheld this revolutionary and this fun. I mean they just copying each other right now. I believe Nintendo can deliver more better generation of console after Nintendo Switch, but is is hard to top. I don't think it is enough with just more powerful Nintendo Switch, it will be just like handheld PC, more power than the other but nothing special. sorry for my bad english

One of my favorite memories of the Switch - in Jan of 2019 I took a team of 15u boys to the NFL Flag Football Championships at the Pro Bowl in Orlando, Florida. One of the nights we alll ended up playing 1-2 Switch with my offense going head to head with my Co-Coach John and his defense. The pics I have of my QB Ryan milking a cow agianst Coach John while they stared so intensely at each other is burned in my memory forever. Amazing team building night.

I still have my original Switch I got on release day in March 2017. I don’t use it much anymore as I recently upgraded it to the Tears of the Kingdom OLED Switch. I only use my original Switch and my Switch Lite for Pokemon stuff. Happy Birthday, Nintendo Switch.

Same here, the switch is the only system I have in terms of modern systems. I’ve only had my switch OLED since October last year which I got with breath of the wild and Super Mario Odyssey and since then I’ve wrapped up 44 physical games and around about 10 digital ones.

Had the Switch launch year, played it for around 2 years with Odeyssy, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart, you know, the hits. Grew up with Nintendo, had a N64 for my 4th birthday lol. Then a Wii, then 3DS. But it's not for me anymore. But there goes no day without checking out what's new. The weird part is: I know for sure I won't buy the next Nintendo, but I'm very excited to know what it will be. I guess a Switch 2 if they are smart. I'm enjoying CoD and Fortnite in my busy life with work. Just brainless things so I can relax. Still got my old Nintendo stuff in case I want to revisit.

Whatever happens with the next console, I'm thankful to the Switch for single-handedly making video games a thing I could still fit into my life. And my vanilla Switch from 2017 is still going strong, although now with cool Zelda joy-cons instead of the original gray. I'm hoping the next one is just like this, only more powerful and with backwards compatibility with the original. That's it. End of wish list.

I was not even a year out of high school. I worked at my first job for almost a year and was still living with my parents. I sat outside of my local Game Stop for 9 hours on March 2nd to get my switch. Preorders were sold out but my local GameStop had 4 in stock for people who couldn't preorder them. There were 3 other people in line when I called the store. I got really lucky and I will always treasure that night. I met so many cool people from my area and we theorized all of the releases that were going to come out for the console and what they could do with the hardware. It was the closest thing to a Con I had ever been to. Can't wait for the next console so I can hopefully relive that experience.

I was 17 at the time, but I said heck to school the next morning, I stayed from 6pm to 12am for launch NOT preordered, hoping there would be an extra or two and lucked out and got one and a copy of Zelda. Great video on a legendary console! Switch is probably my favorite console of all time, it really helped me relive many titles I used to enjoy so much along with so many new titles. I made a video a couple years back when the switch Oled came out, on how to transfer save data. I still get messages all the time of people migrating to another Switch, seems crazy how many people are swaping consoles still 7 years later in the same platform.

I remember that I got the original Nintendo Switch in 2018 and a year later I was in University. The laptop that I got for school had a GTX 1050 so that I could play PC games in my free time, but as for a console I didn't have a TV in my dorm room and so the Switch was a perfect console that I could bring around with me and play it anywhere around campus with my friends. I started feeling homesick in school and eventually transferred to a school back home during Covid and the Switch got me through that time. Before the Switch, I was huge into the 3DS and New 3DS and one game that I really loved playing was Animal Crossing New Leaf. With the Switch, Nintendo didn't know that Covid was gonna happen but somehow they released Animal Crossing New Horizons at the perfect time. This is the thing that Nintendo did with the Wii (Mario Kart and Wii Sports and then Twilight Princess and Super Mario galaxy) and now are doing with the Switch: having a balance between casual games like Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and Switch sports and then more hardcore games like Breath of the Wild, Metroid Dread, and Xenoblade. I didn't get the original Switch on launch (I got it a year later) but I did end up getting the Switch OLED a week after it came out because I was not able to find one the day it came out. Also with Joycon drift, I've only ever had one Joycon (my original gray left Joycon) that had drift (since then my other two pairs of Joycon have not gotten drift).

The Switch came out when I was in a really rough patch. I wasn't sure I would still have a job in the coming months, and even if I would probably have to move for it, and my finances were a mess. Which means that when the Switch was released I had to watch everyone buy it while I was stuck with a Wii that wouldn't play discs anymore. That luckily changed in 2019, and pretty much the first thing I bought after moving to my current house was a Switch. With Breath of the Wild of course, and a Pro controller. And man did it feel like I was alive again! Buying the Switch felt like the last step in putting my life back on track, and for this reason it's got such a special place in my heart now. In fact, I still play on my original Switch (the OLED wasn't enough of an upgrade for me as I play mostly docked), I've still got all my original controllers working (maybe because I've hardly ever used my joycons, they're too small for my hands), and I'm not planning on stopping anytime soon. And unless the next console has full Switch compatibility day one, I'm probably going to carry on for a long time (if only because of the backlog I've accumulated over the years!).

Switch was my only introduction to the new consoles wanted to get a Xbox and ps5 but never ever felt enthusiastic to get it when in front both but the switch I think hit the spot of a system that’s versatile as all the others but with a proper console with the ability to go anywhere! The video mentions ARMS, Snipperclips, 1-2 Switch, and Game Builder Garage. Any others? Including Nintendo-published (and not developed) games, the only others I can think of off-the-bat that weren't mentioned are Astral Chain and Good Job! (as far as I can remember).

It's been a crazy 7 years! Funny enough, this was my first Video Game Console I bought myself fully. I recall Launch Day very well. Me, a 17 year old Sophomore (I wasnt held back, started Kindergarten at 6, wasnt my choice lol) who DIDN'T PREORDER the damn thing, and I arrived at my local GameStop around 6 pm, and waited outside (despite it was a midnight launch, I NEEDED to be first in line for this) from 6pm to 12am. Sad part was the guys working there told me I would be the LUCKIEST person on Launch Day to get a Switch if I did preorder. So from 6 to 10, I was the first in line. Lots of us talking, but sad reality sat that these people waiting Did preorder, I didnt and had hopes there'd be at least a couple extra. 12 strikes and I was informed to move (as "first" of those who didn't preorder) to the back and wait it out. Sure enough, Im next to walk in and they had 2 LEFT OVER besides preorder. I dash up there, grab Zelda and the Switch (Red and Blue) and bought my first console. Its wild to look back at that and now as a full 24 year old ass adult who buys broken ones, fixes them and sells them ALONGSIDE my full time 12 hour job, this is indeed the BEST generation Nintendo has had.

I wish I had the same excitement as you guys for the Switch release. I bought mine at Black Friday of its release year along with another pair of Cons, three Pro Controllers, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Masterblaster Zero and yet another game. SMO made me love it to death! Playing Masterblaster in handheld felt magical and just taking the Switch with its dock to friends to play Mario Kart was super easy. Initially however, it left me cold uninterested as all there was was Zelda BotW, a game which I dislike just like all other 3D entries save for Wind Waker. I was totally hyped for VR around that time, already had lots of cool games for my WiiU and that thing itself also already had Cemu going for it. Luckily the Switch got much better over time, Splatoon 2 came out with Splatoon 3 being my most played game of all time judging by playtime. The SteamDeck is superb however and I dunno but if Nintendo was to improve on the Joycons, all that'd have to do to make it work for me is a proper grip, a proper D-PAD and better sticks to prevent drifting.

Tbh I got it and it was just like my DS days which i kinda appreciated. I used to have mkds, bowsers inside story and mario party for a year, slowly built my ds library to like 25 by the end of the 3DS Switch i put so much time into mk8d and zelda until smash and pokemon came out, and then the switch library went crazy. So I didnt mind the initial small library as I got to appreciage a couple great games for a lot of hours I hope the joycons die though. Small uncomfy and drifty

It’s amazing that the switch is seven years old. It feels like yesterday that was released and it’s still the next system while not cutting edge even back then it more than makes up for the sheer amount of quality games it has and my journey with the switch started on October 11 last year and I’ve been loving every second of it, I’m not close to being done with the switch. I still have lots of games to play from my growing as well I still need to buy.

7 years in and still no joy con with a proper D-pad...and the Megaman joy con doesn't count. Mario 35 was a joy to play on the Lite, probably why I was able to get 1st place one round. Still wish they brought that back. But my Switch history is as follows: went from V2 to Lite to V2 to OLED. All except the OLED went to relatives and they currently enjoy being on my family plan.

I remember the day the Switch came out, I was lined up outside Best Buy in the freezing cold waiting for the midnight release. There was so much excitement in the line. There were a bunch of people including me that had brought their 3DS'es to get Street Passes. It was easily my biggest "launch day haul" of any console, ever. I got the system (with gray Joy-Cons), a Joy-Con grip/charger, a Pro Controller, BOTW Limited Edition, Super Bomberman R, 1-2 Switch, and all five of the BOTW Amiibo. It was nuts and amazing! ...and I was 37, you whipper snappers. lol

Nintendo does not make new IP often. Before Splatoon, pikmin was the last new IP or wii sports if you want to count that. In the Switch era, we got decent amount of new IPs compared to pre wiiu era.

This hit hard. After playing the Princess peach demo, seeing it constantly drop to 20-25 fps… then again I feel the game is just poorly optimised. Wich is a first for a first party nintendo game like this. Especially considering the small scope of the game. That said I want a new system. How can we have characters like Cloud and Ryu and Ken in Smash ultimate, yet their respective games on the system are PS2 era HD remasters and bare bones arcade rereleases. I want ff7 remake and SF6. I’m done waiting and rqdio silence. My loyalty has boundaries.

Thanks for the cozy chat! ^^ I feel a lot of people are missing the obvious reason LABO cost what it did. Each LABO box contained a standalone cartridge with software, in a regular sized Switch game box, like any other Nintendo game. That by itself has retail value. And while of course there's R&D for the cardboard parts, this was likely included in regular development budget, and Nintendo partnered with carboard manufacturers around the planet to make sure the parts could be made cheaply with regular production tools. But. The end result that a consumer picks off the shelf is shipped in a box more than 30 times the size and weight of a regular Nintendo Switch game. I'm almost certain Nintendo decided to have their regular profit on each copy, forwarding instead the cost of the specialty-cut cardboard AND the immense extra shipping expenses directly to the end user.

If only they had an gpu in the dock, and if the switch actually was of a clam shell device for proper handheld ergonomics and it would ensure scratch protection when the kids put it in the backpack or when u dock it... I was a day one Switch pre-order, and truthfully played 99% docked with my Switch Pro controller and never had any issues. But got really addicted to Balatro when that launched 2-3 weeks ago and have easily played more time portable during this window than the prior 7 years combined.... And tonight I finally started to see joycon drift for myself... Yeah, worse than I expected, this is quite bad

Hard to believe I was in 6th grade when the Switch was first released and now I've finished high school and the Switch is 7 years old. I remember begging my mum to get me a Switch when I was 12 because I heard all the cool things about it and I was tired of only playing games on my 3DS. It wasn't until 2 years later my 14th birthday that my dad got me the system and even though I was a little late to the party, all that mattered to me was that I now got to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe whenever I felt like it. Now that the Switch has proven to be Nintendo's most successful console I feel like the system has lost its charm now, reaching its 7th year and Nintendo are still supporting it (hell, the PS4 is 11 years old and still getting games) but I will always have nostalgia for 2017 and 2018 when the Switch was in its prime.

I was still a kid when the switch came out I'm now a adult. I have aged a bit since then. I got the system to play Splatoon 2 but have enjoyed all the other first party titles I got my hands on. Though I do think its time for a new system as its starting to show its age.

Nintendo may not have taken much chance this console with new IP, but they did go hog wild reinventing their established ones. Zelda comes to mind, but Kirby had its first 3D entry, Pokemon expanded in scope with Legends, and Mario Odyssey is both a return to form and a reinventing. They also brought back tons of IP I never thought would return. Advance Wars, F-Zero, FAMICOM DETECTIVE CLUB?! Those, in my mind, will be the Switch future legacy.

I also want a Switch port of Fire Emblem: Genealogy Of The Holy War, & a new Rhythm Heaven game for Switch!

I remember having to work 9 to 6 that day. That allowed me to go to Target when it opened. There were a bunch of people in front of me, but I got a Switch with grey Joy Con. They ran out of the colored version, but I didn’t care. I just wanted the system. Here is a Mario Kart haiku: I drive in the lead. Followed by red and blue shells. They still see my back.

I remember being excited when the switch was announced and surprised that some people didn't think it would be a hit. There was nothing else on the market like it at the time and it had a lot of potential. Personally before the switch I was not interested in the new gaming hardware and was content with playing older hardware. The switch rekindled my love for gaming again by bringing hime console gaming on the go. The Switch lite is my favorite gaming console for everyday and everywhere gaming.

Lol "look how they massacred my boy" lol I bought my switch as an early 30th birthday present. It is my favourite piece of tech EVER. I'm so looking forward to the super switch, but at the same time, it will be so sad when this era ends. Also, we've been spoiled by the OLED screen, I've just bought a playsattion portal, which I'm loving, but I'm very aware that it's not an OLED screen, lol What if the next switch doesn't have an OLED screen? Uh oh...

I remember when the switch was coming out how excited I was for updated motion controls: a sword-fighting zelda or star wars game was in the back of my mind, a new Switch Sports, etc. Playing 1-2 switch was fun for a little bit, but one of the things that disappointed me was that throughout the whole switch life cycle, motion controls felt like they were always on the backburner: maybe a little shake here and there in some games, but my goodness the motion games and controls were limited, rare, and seldom fun and innovative. That's one thing I'd say throughout the life-cycle that continually disappointed me. Nevertheless, now I want to play a 4DS 😂
