Despite him being in character as the Nerd, you could argue that this was where Rolfe realized there was a limit to game collecting. That's probably why he used the SNES Classic to review Earthbound. While the Earthbound cart isn't half as costly as NWC (gold OR grey), sometimes, the huge amount of money just ain't worth it sometimes.

The weird thing is Earthbound isn't actually rare, but it's sought-after. Like my local retro game shop has something like 7 loose-cart copies of Earthbound in their case, but they're asking $90 (canadian) per copy. Of course, they also have a complete-in-box copy of the version that came with the strategy guide, and they're asking $700 for that

It was confirmed in a BTS video that the cartridges destroyed were actually just Legend of Zelda and Top Gun carts in disguise, but wouldn't that be a great legacy? One of the most rare, elusive NES games in history, very few cartridges in existence, and the Angry Video Game Nerd would go down in history as the man who destroyed one of each kind. I feel like this is the very last nostalgic AVGN episode due to the fact it still uses that old standard vision camera recording the episode in 480p. It gave a nostalgic atmosphere that we've all been used to in all the old AVGN episodes and it gave a certain charm to it especially since they were about retro games. It feels like a new era now since episode 105 when he started recording in HD and now AVGN has a more modern charm to it and hopefully he'll start reviewing some more modern shitty games from the PS2, Xbox and Game-cube generation, mixed in with his retro game episodes.

@doublechindoge75 жыл бұрын
@@HeraldofMisfortune (I assume you meant in instead of into) English muffins aren't a dessert, they're kinda like a ball of bread-like dough that you cut in half and put each side in the toaster, then you butter it usually. Maybe it's just because I am English, but I personally don't like that they're called English muffins, I just call them bread muffins.

As valuable as the gold carts are, and will most likely always sell for more, the actual most valuable NES cart is Thor's grey cart. He won the NWC, and it's coded to his name. So, it has providence, and it is a bigger piece of history than any of the gold carts. It would be like having the NES cart equivalent of Barry Bonds' record winning home run ball.

I really like this episode, I like how they really give you the insight on how precious these games are. The backstory and history is very important and film wise AVGN did a great job informing the viewer whom might not be so knowledgeable about NES (such as myself). So when the games broke I felt it too, but oh man what a ride - good thing they're safe and sound.

I feel like this is the very last nostalgic old school AVGN episode due to the fact it still uses that old standard vision camera recording the episode in 480p. It gave a nostalgic atmosphere that we've all been used to in all the old AVGN episodes up until this point and it gave a certain charm to it especially since they were about retro games. It feels like a new era since episode 105 when he started recording in HD and changed the editing and delivery of each episode. AVGN now has a more modern charm to it, especially now that he's reviewing games from the Playstation and Xbox era. Amazing how well this series holds up after all these years!

How to get a gold cart. step 1. Buy a nwc reproduction cartridge. step 2. get a gold legend of zelda. step 3. print out the nwc label. step 4. glue the fucker on. And there you have your cartridge with bragging rights.
