Airsh Bornely There's a way to have the orchestrated music if you have A9LH (custom firmware). Otherwise it's impossible :(

Airsh Bornely I get where you're coming from. If you do it incorrectly it can permanently damage your console, but I will tell you it is definitely worth the trouble. The amount of customization you have with custom firmware is awe inspiring.

AceTechHD I'm sure it is. (Though, I despise how easy it makes users able to pirate 3DS games) The first time I tried it was back when downgrading was more risky. I almost ruined my 3DS since it froze during the process... Luckily a forced system update restored it thank goodness. I feel like I'll never able to bring myself up for it again. IDK.

I really think we need this on the switch. Like I have a 3DS but I'd prefer to play this game on the tv screen as well as the portable mode. Yes it's been released a lot of time but it was a good dragon quest in my eyes :)

The graphics do have purpose here, as it would strain my eyes to play it on 3DS. I don't mind bad graphics, but not when it actually damages my eyesight. I have pretty good eyesight and I'd rather not lose that over something like this. If anything they just need to release it on the Switch so people's eyes don't hurt

This is indeed a good place to start! And the PS2 version is good for the better graphics and orchestral soundtrack, though it does have a whole lot more loading than this 3DS port which can drag it down

the BEST dragon quest in history, it's that game which make me love this franchise and the first dragon quest release in my country (square enix don't want french to play it at that tim because they think we can't conprehend rpg), i remember the time i see the trailer launch at my fach when i was eating, i literally drop my fork and said iwant that game for my birthday and now 11 years after my cd rom is really in bad shape i can play on a portable device with new content added even if that version have a few downgrade like not having the orchestral music but they did an amazing job so music is still beautifull and the graphichs take a little downgrade but it's fine it's the 3ds after all ; if i have one thing to shout about is this "GIVE ME EIGHT'S SUPER SAIYAN HAIRSTYLE AT TENSION 100 BACK" that was the most epic thing about this game

sirFox nope, only DQ XI , DQ X Online and DQ Heroes I - II are the ONLY Confirmed DQ Titles coming to the Japanese Switch, DQ IX would be too expensive to Remaster for the Switch.

It's arguably the best Dragon Quest game. The tension system was introduced in this game and adds a fair amount of strategy that felt missing in earlier installments. The main party in VIII is the most charismatic characters in the franchise as well.

Dragon Quest 8 for 3ds is awesome!!! I recently beat Dragon Quest 7 for the 3DS and I had bought Dragon Quest 8 for the PS2 last summer to play that version, but I decided to play it with the 3DS version for the portability and especially for the fast battle option. Overall it is an amazing game hopefully we get more Dragon Quest games over here for the 3DS and for the SWITCH :)

I can't decide whether to get this version or keep my PS2 copy. On one hand the 3DS has new content, and is portable. On the other hand, the PS2 has better quality graphics and sound (and that wonderful orchestrated soundtrack!). I have yet to get around to playing it so either one would be my first experience

not for North America, its only Japanese 3 Years ago. This is the same version as the Japanese 3DS one but with English voice acting and Synth soundtrack. the censoring is the same as the Japanese version.

is that the same engine used since that graphic style was adopted? would make since why you stay with that style then. never have to update anything. just change the content. at least the job system isn't in this one, and hopefully is never patched in. Might be worth trying this game. even though you haven't produced anything worth playing since you companies joined. You made great games separately. Not for sure why working as one changed that.

nothing much. just that the looks of there games in the dragon quest series hasn't changed since i played dragon quest monsters. was actually just curious if the same engine and assets was used in all there recent dragon quest games. I don't have anything against it. I'm seriously thinking of getting this game. I've heard it doesn't have the job system. I've disliked that system for years now and it seems to be in every square enix game out there. if its about them not having made a good game since when they were referred to seperately as "squaresoft" and "enix". That is a opinion I have. Seems many people don't share it. I am not really worried about that. It my opnion. not theirs.

markasscop Arev it was hero at but ithink akira toriyama said that if the hero of a dragon quest game was not guve a name by default or any media it has the name of the number of the dragon quest you play for exemple dragon quest 8 and 9 hero are name Eight and Nine separatly

There is only one thing I would change about DQVIII Remake. DQIX had a unique battle layout where the monsters weren't all in the same line. I'd really love to see that return to the other DQ games. Just seeing EVERYTHING in a straight line constantly is boring in comparison. Now when you select your attack that is fine, but the actual attacking animation should show them randomly scattered.
