To be fair, remastering the SNES games would involve recreating all the sprites from zero, since their original size is too small to upscale it in a nice way. I would love to see that, though.

However, given Nintendo's track record of successfully remastering other classic games, it would be amazing to see them bring the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy to modern consoles with the same care they've shown with series like Metroid. It might be a big task, but considering these classics' ongoing popularity and nostalgia, it could be well worth the effort!

I’m still very excited to play this game again. I don’t care that people are saying that this game came back for the third time, this game has a special place in my heart and it has been one of my favorite games on the Wii growing up. I’m one of those people that’s happy to see this game come back and I’m about to relive my childhood soon when this game comes out in January 2025. I know the game has some flaws such as the graphics looking worse and that they’re still charging full price at $60, I’ll still pick up this game at launch anyway even though I know I’m paying more money when it should’ve been $40 like the Wii version. And by the way, DK has fur again in the scene when punching the Tiki out the door. This is still my favorite game of all time and I can’t wait to play this game again after more than a decade since I last played DKC Returns. Despite people saying “Nintendo, this is the third time this game returned” I’m not upset or complaining about that since I love this game so much. I know a new DK game would be awesome, but this one is pretty good as well just like Tropical Freeze being absolute peak of a DK game. It’s been 11 years without a new DK game but I believe we’ll be getting a new one on the Switch 2. But either way, I’m thrilled to play this one again and now every single DK Country game will be available to play on Switch and this is why Returns is returning to Switch because of the theme park at Super Nintendo World. So I am very happy overall to see this game come to Switch with a pretty decent style mode and I can’t wait to play this game like the good ol’ Wii days. Thank you so much Nintendo!

People complain too much about the Donkey Kong franchise having new villains like the Tikis or the Snowmads. The first Donkey Kong Country was going to have Wario as the villain, but then Nintendo asked Rare to create new ones. Let Retro Studios create brand new villains, if it wasn't for them, DK Returns would feel like a remake that only took the work that Rare did instead of creating new stuff.
