I never knew this version existed. The original game on Genesis still has one of the best atmospheres that I’ve ever experienced in a video game. The box art for the game was incredible too.

The first level reminds me of Forest scene from Walt Disney's Hercules that wasn't released until 1997

This game reminds me of Ghosts N Goblins. In both games, it involves jumping from platform to platform, killing and avoiding enemies and fighting bosses at the end of each level. After defeating a boss, it drops something. In Ghosts N Goblins, it drops a key and in Castle of Illusion, it drops a gem. At the end of both games, you save a female character. In Ghosts N Goblins, you save a princess and in Castle of Illusion, you save Minnie Mouse.

Last stage is as if Mickey became Simon Belmont and went through Dracula's Castle. Suits of armor throwing projectiles, bats, skulls, smile bubbles, climbing a clock tower while the bats act like medusa heads, and Mizrabel's boss fight is a bit like Dracula's.

I had *no* idea that this existed, but I'll be darned. This looks like a _very_ faithful Sega Saturn port of a Sega Genesis classic. Were these "Sega Ages" ports on the Saturn common? I remember coming across Outrun being on there not too long ago.

There weren't a ton, but there were some others. There was one that had the Phantasy Star games, and one with some Columns games. A few had arcade games too, like Galaxy Force, Power Drift, etc. The Sega Ages line didn't really take off until the PS2 though.
