Child curiousity + trial and error - brute forcing their way into life since forever. :)) I still remember how I used to trial and error that viking ghost ship level. It was confusing to navigate, but eventually I've managed to map the structure in my memory and find the exit. The Hindi-themed level was a nightmare though. The only thing that kept me going was, getting confused by the flute and bitten by that snake... xD Quackshot is one amazing game, even today. It was an excellent attempt at asymmetrical level design.

This games reminds me of a friend I used to know who had a Genesis (I had an SNES at the time). Whenever I went over to his house this was one of the games he played. Although he is no longer around the memory of this game still reminds me of the good times we had in a simpler time.
@Andy-iv5lk5 жыл бұрын
Wow...unbelievable...I'm reading this 4 years after your post here. If you don't mind I'd also like to share something. I also had a friend, really good friend who on the first day we met, he said he would go over my house on drop off some NES games so me and my brother could play. Again, he said that on the very first day we met. We all became good friends and stuff and he was a reaaally good player. He beat all of his games. I'm talking about approximately 25 years ago when internet wasn't around and he never ever used magazines. So one day, he said, I'm gonna let you borrow this great game Battletoads (NES) so that you can play....After a couple of days, i said: Marcelo, this game is very difficult. He came by our house and beat the game in front of me and my older brother. Bonus? he beat it with no deaths at all. He was such a meticulous player. When I tell people that my friend beat the game without losing any lives, people still don't believe me. Unfortunately he's no longer with us, but every time I look at games here on youtube, it also reminds me of the good time me, him and my brother had. R.I.P. Marcelo!

I'd struggle with Quackshot, however (I don't think I ever beat the Viking Ship boss as a kid) but yesterday, I finally sat down and beat the entire game after dying COUNTLESS times on the Island stage.

But i was still pretty much confined to my bed. I had to stay at my grandparents house because they had an actual bed. At home my bed was the couch heh. So i stayed in bed and played video games. My parents had bought me Sonic and Knuckles for making it through the surgery and this was one of many games that they rented for me. This was before robotic doctor arms made heart surgery a simple procedure, they had to crack open my rib cage. Broken ribs are no joke. That stuff hurts yo.
