I love your passion for this game. There's something really peculiarly "adventury", "fairy taily", but at the same time "mysteriously" weird about the world of Banjo Kazooie. It's hard to describe, but the atmosphere has not ever been duplicated again (not even in Yooka Laylee"). Truly also, one of my favorite games of all time.

Wow! I wish I was you!! Though having said that, I will be interested in your opinion once you've finished, if you don't mind coming back and telling us? I played it back in the 90's - and absolutely loved it - and played it again a few years back on my Xbox. Now I'm going to play it again once I have finished Ocarina Of Time (because Majora's Mask is being released next month, so I wanted to do another playthrough before that comes). But I'm rambling! As I do... You see, I'm interested in whether it's nostalgia that makes me enjoy replaying these older games, or whether they genuinely are fantastic games. You know? If you love the game and enjoy it the whole way through, that will be a good indication that it really is a fantastic game, and my nostalgia is based on that fact, rather than external variables. I don't know if that makes sense?! 🙃 It's 6am here in Australia and I need to go to sleep!

Alex spitting straight facts. This is the first time I've heard praise for the note mechanics, and I completely agree... Minus in Rusty Bucket Bay because reasons.
@denimchicken1043 жыл бұрын
It’s one of those things. The Xbox version seems nicer on the surface because the notes system is friendlier. However the authentic version has you more engaged with the game since dying or leaving the level erases the note count. Ultimately it’ll still be a matter of preference. I’m glad they’re both available now.
@Howitchewstofeel5gum3 жыл бұрын
It's not a "mechanic", they HAD to do it this way because of hardware limitations and it sucked IMO. How it is in the Xbox remaster is how the game was originally intended.
@goodkiller933 жыл бұрын
@@Howitchewstofeel5gum A mechanic can be born from a limitation. In Majora's Mask, the development time limitation was responsible for the three-day cycle. There's arguments for and against having note collection be permanent. The good thing is both versions exist.
@Vinicius_Berger3 жыл бұрын
@@Howitchewstofeel5gum You're WRONG. That WAS a mechanic deliberately chosen by the developers to be that way and it SHOULDN'T be changed for the Xbox version. You know why it WASN'T hardware limitation? Because Banjo-Tooie, the sequel on the same console, does save the notes, which shows that the N64 is capable of doing that, they just chose not to. Banjo-Tooie saves the notes because the worlds are interconnected, so they never "end", so to speak, as opposed to Banjo-Kazooie, where you can go, do everything and leave.
@Howitchewstofeel5gum3 жыл бұрын
@@Vinicius_Berger Um, no, actually *you're* wrong my friend. Have you ever wondered why the notes in Tooie had been grouped together into nests of 5 and 20? That's right, because that was precisely what enabled the game to remember your collected notes, since the overall object count in that case was reduced from 100 to 17 per level (one nest of 20, 16 nests of 5). Whether or not the levels are interconnected actually doesn't matter here, since they're still seperate levels with loading happening between them. It's not like you enter one of them and the game just loads all of them into the N64's tiny memory lol.
@mddowlin3 жыл бұрын
Yesssss! I knew Alex had good taste. I always put Banjo in my top 3 games probably because I'm too much of a coward to say it's my favorite. It was also a great part of my childhood. I've never heard someone say they preferred the old way of the notes being tracked and I think I would agree with you if it wasn't for all the cheap deaths in the last two levels

I don't think the rumor with the collectible notes is true, because the game does remember how many notes you collected per level, because Bottles will tell you if you've got a new high score. I also think that the notes not being permanent is a good thing, because they are spread around each level like breadcrumps to where you want to go to collect Jiggies or other meaningfull stuff. If you collect all of them in a level but don't collect all the Jiggies, you will have no indication of where it could be and the level would look a lot emptier without them. It's almost the same like the coins in 2D Mario. You don't collect them because you need those extra 1-UP's, but because it's fun to just collect them. Those levels also would lose a lot of their charm if all the coins were gone on repeat playthroughs.
