The original Wario Ware on gba, Twisted on gba, and Wario Ware Touched on the ds were all meant to be played completely solo and those games were amazing. So I don’t know why they couldn’t just have a mode like that

Right? Especially when Move It is stuffed to the brim with so many multiplier modes and options. Seriously, I hadn’t seen Nintendo show so much care for a multiplier-driven game in forever. The vast majority of Mario Sports games in the last 15 years have been extremely disappointing in terms of content, as well as the 3 previous WarioWare entries. This was a very pleasant surprise - but it is still pretty disappointing that they didn’t extend the same care to the single-player experience. Nintendo always does a step back every two steps forward.

@@frostsplash idk. Alex said something about getting to a part where you can’t continue unless you had another person. Maybe I misunderstood him and he just meant “got to a point of playing all the content” where to do anything new you’d need to switch to multiplayer

​@@TheDreadedZeroSince the game is meant to be the Switch's version of Smooth Moves I imagine he means the rest of the content is simply party games, which are largely just playing the same microgames with a twist. Smooth Moves was essentially the same way, but with a few basic games that made use of the Wiimote and no microgames involved (darts was a surprisingly popular one in my house). I don't think you're missing out on too much if you're not playing the multiplayer mode, but it might make you feel like the game is $10 more expensive than it should be if that goes untouched.

It's interesting to hear that they call it a "party game at heart", when to me, it was always very much a solo experience. I was hoping there were some unlockable single player stuff like in some of the past game (and the previous smooth moves), but I guess i'll have to see once it's out

WarioWare in the past was usually a solo game rather than a party game, other than Smooth Moves and a multiplayer port of the original to GameCube. It’s weird to hear it be called a party game series.

@@ImsPlays I like the button controls (as well as the motions controls), I just didn’t like the whole 2D platformer approach of Get Together (where you had to control a small character). It just didn’t feel as snappy and fast paced as the other ones. I’m honestly super excited to play this new one (and, mind you, I only grew up with the original GBA one and Touched!).

I’m definitely looking forward to this game, being that I highly enjoy Smooth Moves back in the day as it’s by far my favorite games in the series, and this seems like a proper successor to that. While it’s a shame that it seems more multiplayer-oriented, I’m pretty sure that I’ll still find enjoyment from it solo. Though I’ll most likely be waiting a bit to pick it up due to saving my cash for Super Mario RPG instead.

Seems every WarioWare game since Twisted & Touched really lack single-player minigames. A real shame. The handheld games were really jam-packed with both minigames & little toys to keep busy with for a long time.

How smooth were the controls? I enjoyed Smooth Moves, but for me personally, it hasn't aged as well as a lot of other WarioWare titles because the controls often don't work as well as they should, which means that losing microgames often doesn't feel like it's really my fault. I expect Move It's controls to be better since so many of Smooth Moves's control problems have to do with games that involve the sensor bar, but I'd still like to hear from someone who's played the game. Also, have Missions returned in this game (from Gold and Get It Together)?

Nowadays, I may expect MOST people to be in that situation. I agree it looks great, though. But it's the same for me. The last time I was able to play a multiplayer game with anyone must've been like 10-15 years ago. Right about the time the internet started getting super popular, local multiplayer started to die out. Now people just live their lives on their smartphones and have less time for anything outside of that.

I loved smooth moves, but my complaint was it being a solo game at heart! We just ended up passing the wii mote back and forth which worked well enough.

For me personally i have enjoyed warioware games with friends almost throwing the GBA/3DS to each other. We tried to beat the highscore and everyone did one microgame. It was so fun! Last summer got a GBA moded in order to play the original GBA game with lit screen it was amazing! For sure going to check this one out!

I personally find that a lot of the criticisms of Get It Together don't even make any sense. "It didn't have enough multiplayer options!" (It had literally the most multiplayer options of any mainline WarioWare to date.) "It was too complicated, unlike the simplicity of games like Smooth Moves!" (Get It Together is, in most ways, significantly simpler than Smooth Moves due to the sheer variety of forms and specific motions you had to learn in the latter, and Move It will be even more complicated than Smooth Moves was.) "Move It actually feels like it was built for the Switch's hardware, whereas Get It Together was a generic button game." (The main defining feature of the Switch is being able to switch between handheld and docked modes, which will not be possible in Move It. Move It looks more like a Wii-style game made compatible with the Switch. Get It Together can be played single-player in handheld mode or co-op with only a single controller in docked mode.)

@@justanothergamer9570 I kind of agree with those points but I think calling it complicated is kinda fair, and it's the reason it turned people off. You not only have to know the microgame but also how the character works. This is really fun for single player but I was trying to show my friends how to play and it definitely wasn't as easy to explain as the other entries. There are more multiplayer modes but some of them just feel like nonsense. I think it's a really fascinating and fun game, I just wish other people saw the genius to it. I also think Nintendo pricing it at 50$ had it DOA. If it was price at 15, 20, maybe even bundled with Online as a f2p game, I think it would be remembered fondly. Give it a few years and it'll be a cult classic.

@@GurdevSeepersaud The only thing that really makes the game complicated is the scarcity of multiplayer options that all that allow you to use only one or just a few characters. Most multiplayer modes assume familiarity with the entire cast. But doing the coliseum survival mode with only 1 or 3 characters is a pretty good way to introduce the main concept. I think having to learn a bunch of new forms all at once could also be very hard for a new player. It can be daunting to learn all the characters in GIT, but once you do, the microgames become much easier to learn than in most WarioWare games. Even in the original GBA game, in every microgame, you have to learn what game object you are moving and how they move. In the Jimmy T. microgame where you have to bounce the guy on the trampoline, tons of first-time players lose because they mistakenly assume they're supposed to move the gymnast instead of the trampoline. 9-Volt's stage has the Chiratori microgame, which has a surprisingly unintuitive control scheme. Some games only let you move in cardinal directions, others make you hold A to move, and still others only let you make discrete movements between a small number of positions. But in GIT, once your character is selected, you immediately know exactly which game object you will be tasked with controlling and exactly how they move. Before the game even starts. All you have to figure out during the game is how to clear the objective, not what you're moving or how it moves. GIT has perhaps a steeper learning curve, but also a shorter one. Once you know the characters, you know the game.

Good examples and capped it off nicely with that bit about having a steeper but shorter difficulty curve, which I think summed up the core issue I have with the game. I still think this is a fair criticism, though. Even if it's going to eventually click, the last thing I want someone to do when they come over is struggle to figure out the controls. It's just too weird of a concept for a series that's all about picking up and playing. In that way, I think GiT would have fared much better as a different franchise, in terms of audience perception.

It’s mainly because they have a dedicated developer for WarioWare with Intelligent Systems, the same devs behind Fire Emblem and Paper Mario. Whereas Shake-It was made by Good-Feel, and while I’d love for them to do a new Wario Land, all they’ve done since then is make Yoshi games.
