A rule of thumb my father taught me at a young age is that you never break more than 1 law/rule at a time because that is how most out of control situations began. This means to make sure that you’re vehicles lights are all working properly and you follow all traffic laws if you’re doing anything that could get you in trouble. Most of the people who get in a ton of trouble from a traffic stop wouldn’t be serving the time they are now if they didn’t have a burnt out light, didn’t have physical issues with the car for safety, and they didn’t violate other traffic laws. Something most people don’t know is that when you receive 3 tickets/violations the cops are able to arrest you legally. When getting arrested they will search you, your vehicle, and if you have anything on your person you better get rid of it before getting in the cop car or declare it because bringing misdemeanor contraband into jail/prison is actually a felony. To avoid being in a hurry if you’re a stoner then you should leave with plenty of extra time so you can take your time, drive the speed limit, and follow traffic laws to avoid meeting a road pirate that may just rob you of your hard earned cash, may rob you of your life, and may rob you of your freedoms. Always have a lock on your glove box and never have your papers in your glove box. Make sure to have scent proof containers for your festivities (that you haven’t physically touched after handling whatever festivities of your choice to not have the scent on the outside of the container and to wash your hands before actually putting your stuff away inside the container while making sure to not “cross contaminate” the festivities onto the outside of your scent proof container. I personally have my vehicles paperwork in the driver side door in all of our vehicles (my wife’s and myself). When they start to pull you over grab your wallet out your pocket, the registration container, and place them on the dash/pocket where the gauges are located so you can easily get it for the cop when they get up there for your information.

That's terrible information. They can arrest you for whatever the hell they feel like, there is no strike system. And yes, they can search you even with an unlawful arrest, but they can only search your person and immediate vicinity. If you were dumb enough to give them permission to search more that's on you. If you deny the search and they still do it none of the evidence can be used in court and you can sue for violation of the 4th Amendment. Especially if you are ruled innocent you can sue for even more. Know your rights, never speak to pigs

So I’ve been in this situation before and we later found out that the reason so many people were getting pulled over was because they were looking for drunk drivers and they would pull you over for a minor thing to see if you were drunk or going to a bar, then let you go if you were all good. I took my Drivers License Road Test High AF. Didn't really want to be but up until this day I had been high pretty much 24/7 so I knew I'd be a bit extra stressed if I didn't smoke. At one point I was living with a friend and his parents and we both smoked daily. One night his mom asked us to go pick up Whataburger because we have a 24 hour one that’s about a 10 minute drive away and it was 1 am. So while he’s getting his stuff together I’m rolling a joint and we smoke it on the way to whataburger. We get there, get the food and head back and right as we are about half a mile from his neighborhood we see a cop come out of the ditch behind us. There’s no one else on the road so we know he’s after us and we smell like hella weed and have a towering 3ft bong in the backseat floorboard uncovered but it is dark out and we’re in the middle of nowhere so there aren’t any street lights. So we keep going up to his neighborhood and the cop flips his lights on right as we turn in so I pull over in the entrance to the neighborhood. We just told him what was going on minus the weed and he let us go no questions asked. I still have no clue how I didn’t get a DUI. I think it was only because we managed to make the whole round trip and were almost back so he figured we were doing well enough.
