if you choose the skills wisely the ninjustu and onmyo building did lots of damage and much easy to getting close to boss by using your melee weapon，I am still in the early game I am using monkey as guild animal, you can use onmyo mage summon it to attack, will mostly set your enemy on fire, then combo it wiz explore talisman oh the damage is so sweet!

Hi cowboy, not sure if you're aware of this....but the 4 pieces bonus of Seimei and Onmyo Warrior can co-exists, meaning on each spell cast you can simultaneously apply both Atk and Def debuff on the target.

I run this with Water and Lightning sets. Enemies are likely going to be weak to at least 1 of the 2 sets and strictly Gem set. My shots (Basic magic) does no less then 1000 per hit based on resistances and thanks to 40% Untouched Omoyo, I near never run out of magic to cast. Works almost as efficently and my Agility is A. Ninja-esq speed and extremely high magic output, I rarely need the Switchglaive. But when I do I also have a mix of Steel Talismen and an elemental Talismen. It just shreds enemies with their particular effects (Electic- Paralyze, Water- Weakness). In high stance I land roughly 4K in a single combo. Smashes revenants too.

I've been waiting for this video Cowboy, I've been slowly building up an Onmyo build myself and looking good so far, I've got around 80 something in Onmyo already (I work 10 hour shifts can't really sit down and play unless it's on a day off) and I've just beaten the double trouble boy, knowing I'll have to grind him for gear is kinda disheartening but hey at least I know where I can get his gear now. Either way now I can't wait till I get to the end and can start building and really finalizing the build in NG+, you showing the benefits of the shots over the AOEs really helped, I'm surprised you didn't bring up Sloth Talismans though, they are no where nearly as strong as they were in Nioh one but they are still being a life saver for a NG run from what I've noticed.

Never mind it is those 2 missions that drop the text. Unlocked the 5th region after I finished all of the first 2 regions and a bit of the 3rd region if I remember correctly. Was a sad running with a bunch of blue gear but it did the job.

Are Spirit Talismans any good in this game? I remember them being absolutely amazing in Nioh 1 so they were the first thing I specced into when I could in this game but they've been very underwhelming so far. Am I just using the wrong spirits?

They were good in NG in Nioh but their non scaling damage quickly fell behind in late Way of Strong and above. There are some decent ones in Nioh 2 like Hakutaku.

I just started as a switchglaive user this very week, and I love it. I've noticed something that helps with the stance dancing: the game buffers your move input. I mostly swap between mid and high stances; the slower attacks helped me notice it. I was working through DLC 2 when I found this out. I was attacking an enemy, and I thought that I had switched stance way too early. I was not early - in fact buffering the input caused the strike to occur with perfect timing. I don't know how long the input buffer window is, but I can't recommend it enough. Try to do your moves just a bit sooner than you think you need to. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

I’m currently still finishing Nioh right now already did the final mission with the thousand Eyed monster and now just finishing sub missions. Though I do watch a lot of you’re build videos, so I can see the game but note spoil it for myself, but in Nioh I wasn’t big on magic my highest level for Magic and Dexterity my highest level for Magic was 10, though I later learned having high magic and Dexterity really makes the game so much easier I resolved my builds around strength which of course is probably where I go wrong. Anyways I come to watch Cowboys videos until I get the game this Thursday, and watching his Nioh 2 videos I went back and learned a lot I didn’t understand in Nioh.

I tried doing something similar, except I went full caster. Genbu has come in clutch numerous times. All of my onmyo and ungrounds points went into onmyo hit damage and anima charge gain. I put on an infernal one bi soul core (because my ryomen has a -1 effect on his stats, making it possible) to give me extra elemental damage. I went full genmei as you recommended so now I just kill any bosses in my path. I just sloth talisman to lower speed (and now defense), spam elemental shots to gain around 1/3 to 1/4 of my anima per shot, and spam otakemaru. Just for fun, I equipped a comb and tempered it to give a AAA+ life drain from an onmyo magic hit. Around 25% untouched onmyo rate to keep me going. I also heavily tempered my armor towards onmyo attack power buffs and defense buffs based on your Amrita gauge just in case. It really is a wonder how much you help, and I love how the community all puts their own twist to your recommended builds.

I mean I'd the goal is strictly to spam soul cores I think this build does a fine job. Switch to a pure caster for more untouched Onmyo and you can nuke everything via soul cores.

A good back up for the secondary guardian spirit is the goat man from hanabi. It buffs phantom abilities by 10% which makes otake super good even if you don't have one with damage increase

Exactly this was my first build. it's fun to be a samurai Paladin with your bros. I'm sure there's a lot of ways to do it but I wanted to be a tanky healere/party buffer. The heals are on the water tree so that makes water talismans mandatory. You have oasis and rejuvenation you can cast on the team. On the other side, you have your purification talismans, steel talismans and, later, barrier talismans that you can cast on your party. I personally stay away from sloth because it makes fights too easy but it's on that side of the tree too. I supplement with devigorate and weakness talismans to cast on tougher enemies. These essentially increase the entire team's defense and attack against any enemy that has these debuffs. I'm not at end game yet so I can't tell you about specific gear sets but I've been playing a tanky, constitution/stamina build using spear and hammer. By mixing heavy and medium armor sets, I've been able to keep agility at B and Toughness at A rank. Magic is at 30 just to get max capacity then I max out constitution and stamina. Super tanky but you still do great damage since hammer scales with constitution and stamina. Spear scales with constitution and the range and move set compliments the hammer well. I'll be supplementing with heart/courage later. The builds weakness is lack of ki. I manage my ki meter pretty well so it's not a big problem for me but little more ki would be welcome. Hope this gives you some ideas to help. The co op, especially expedition mode, is super fun.

I love running onmyo, though right now im dping more glass canon with ninjutsu, feathers for boss ki down, shots to plough through other enemies (i literally never run out of some magic to throw) while meatgrinding bosses woth scythe... Had a question, i wanted to get the texts for element scythes but cant find a list and you have them in this vid, where can you get the smithing texts for those? (Pheonix, Sasayuki, etc.) Otherwise i might restat to try this out, i wasnt a big fan of the shikigami cause they always faded before i could get the bomb off, but seems like fun!

They level faster from damage so shots in Onmyo, kunai in ninjitsu. Using buffs will see very slow leveling

Onmyo warrior does not have a head piece if that's the one messing you up. I also believe there are dojo missions that reward the smithing texts for both that and the genmei mage armor in NG+

In 12:28 you said you had 15 skill for the gear, but none of the gear requires 15 skill? The only gear requiring skill is genmei onmyo gear, and it only asks for 7 in skill. Was that a mistake or I'm missing something?

I didn't craft my gear so the stat requirement was higher, requirements are lower for crafted pieces.

I think those stats are 28 of 35 stat required with stregnth and heart stats combined so you can have one 17 and other 18

To be fair this is late game, your spells don't destroy everything early on

Onmyo is still strong throughout the game, you just wont notice that much early game since it takes awhile. The lifesteal omnyo on top of protection omnyos are god send early game, you just wont have good damage from them until later on.

@@FightinCowboy that's fair. my big hang up was that i thought onmyo underperformed once you hit new game plus, so i didn't want to potentially struggle and not be rewarded after all the work i would have put in. seeing the very real damage makes me more confident to stick with it even when my damage numbers aren't where i want them to be, if that makes sense.

@@KaTayNaX for early to mid game you'll mainly want utility spells. so steel, barrier, rejuvination, weakness and lifesteal as well as a switchglaive/elemental weapon buff of your choosing. the life steal is a god send if you get hit a decent chunk and if you're bringing in acolytes or are a visitor. i have saved MANY a player with life steal on bosses. also considering you WILL be getting ninja points from locks, i would reccomend getting kunai and the faster throwing and throwing damage skills. helps with getting one enemy out of a group and sometimes you just need to poke enemies to death from a safe distance and you might not have the onmyo capacity for offensive spells as well as your utility.
