रफी साहब के साथ लक्ष्मी प्यारे के और भी ज्यादा नगमे होते। लेकिन रफी साहब 1980 में गुजर गए, और किशोर दा 1987 में गुजरे, इस तरह लक्ष्मी प्यारे ने किशोर दा के साथ 7 साल और भी ज्यादा काम किया, इसलिए किशोर दा के साथ 23 गाने ज्यादा हो गए। लक्ष्मी प्यारे ही वो संगीतकार थे जो किशोर दा के उठान, और रफी साहब के लो फेस में भी रफी साहब से लगातार बेहतरीन नगमे गवाए, और उस दौर में रफी साहब की प्रासंगिकता बनाए रखी।

Mahesh-Ji, I am surprised that you have mentioned Rafi Saab as a 'copybook' singer!! Let me tell you Rafi Saab was/is and will ever remain the most versatile, most unique, inimitable, outstanding singer the world has ever produced. Even Kishore-Da had admitted that on many occasions. Music directors made him sing songs of every genre - Be it Pop, sad, happy, geet, ghazal, bhajan, semi classical, qawwali, comedy, traditional, religious, Heer, Nazrul geet, background, high pitch, low pitch, soft pitch, singing in whisper, etc. etc. This is the ONLY Bollywood singer who made super stars, super composers, super comedians, super character artists. Just to name a few actors- Shammi Kapoor, Dharmendra, Jeetander, Biswajeet, Dilip Kumar, Mehmood, Johnny Walker, Shashi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor. Just to name composers- Laxmikant Pyarelal, Naushad, Ravi, Madan Mohan not to forget R D Burman. R D was recognized in the industry ONLY because of Rafi Saab's singing all the songs of "Teesri Manzil". His father, Sachin-Da always used to tell RD " Tiśarī mañjilē tōmāra gāna gēẏē Rophi tōmāra sabacēẏē baṛa upakāra karēchē. No one can deny that. I myself, being a biggest die-hard fan of Kishore-Da, used to admire his singing. He struggled for 25 years. But Rafi Saab literally gave his first position to Kishore-Da when he quit singing after going for pilgrimage. There was no one in the entire industry who could replace or compete with Rafi Saab. After recording two duet songs with Lata-ji & Asha-Ji ( Baghon mein bahar hai & Gunguna rahe hain bhonvre) Shakti-Da ( Shakti Samatha) requested Rafi Saab to do two solos before leaving Bombay. But he couldn't do it because of his extremely busy schedule. Bollywood is very unpredictable and dirty politics are played at every stage. Let me tell you the story of Runa Laila. She sang the title song for " Ek Se Badhkar ek' which was sung in Asha-ji's style composed by Kalyanji-Anandji. when the song was released, Lata-ji called Kalyanji Bhai and said, " glad that you found an Asha, now please look for a Lata". and disconnected the phone. Then the call went to all producers who had booked KA. She will not sing if KA are giving music for any movie. Overnight, all contracts were cancelled and for your information all KA's contracts were signed by LP. Poor KA were in a state of shock. Thank God, that they had their side business of dry fruits. Otherwise, they would have been homeless. But Kalyan-Ji was a genius. He took an oath to train five female singers. Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthi, Sandhana Sargam, Hema Sardesai and Anuradha Paudhwal. These singers were given vigorous training in his house from morning 9:00 till 6:00 PM. Rest is history ! Kalyan-Ji Bhai gets the credit of breaking the vicious monopoly. As Shreya Ghoshal had mentioned to me in 2010 that they are playing 'musical chairs' . Today, you are a super hit singer, tomorrow someone will take your place. The second phase of singers, Kumar Sanu, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, Pamkaj Udhas, Abhijeet, Vinod Rathod after the legends they took over. But now, they all vanished. Answer is DIRTY POLITICS. Kishore-Da was not awarded with any Padma award but Rafi Saab was bestowed with Padma Shri. Look at the 'unjust', biased way these awards are being given. Udit Narayan was awarded "Padma Bhushan". I had written to Udit. How on earth did your conscience allowed you to accept that award when your Gurus, Kishore-Da was not even awarded a Padma award and Rafi Saab was given a mere Padma Shri? THIS IS THE UNJUST, SELFISH, BIASED, MEAN SOCIETY. When journalist, author Raju Bharathan interviewed Lata-ji, how come in all your duets especially with Rafi Saab, his voice rules over yours? She couldn't provide him with an answer. Yet she was awarded as Bharat Ratna. Asha-ji sang many duets with Rafi Saab under O P Nayyar's direction. She herself had mentioned on many occasions while recording duets that she used to get goose bumps when Rafi Saab used to sing. Yet, she has been bestowed with "Padma Vibhushan".

Mahesh-Ji Let me tell you about an incident which is very interesting about this great singer. Pyarelal-Ji is still alive, hope he lives for 100 years, you can verify this story with him. Laxmi-ji had mentioned to me about this unique story after performing a super successful show in Nassau Collisium, New York. Those days, when Kishore-Da was number one singer of Bollywood and Rafi Saab was given less songs. LP composed a song for "Haathi Mere Saathi" (date released May 1971) . Devar-Ji ( O. Chinnappa Devar) made it very clear that there is a 'pilot' song in the movie which will be played on many occasions and it should be recorded on the highest pitch. The silver screen should rattle !!! BTW all male songs were sung by our beloved Kishore-Da. They composed "Nafrat ki Duniya ko'. When Devar-Ji heard this song, he asked them to please try to raise the pitch of this song. Both, LP said if we raise the pitch no one can sing this song. Finally, he okayed it and asked them to book Kishore-Da. Kishore-Da came to Famous studio at 11:00 AM in November 1970. When he heard the track, he literally scolded Laxmi-Ji. He said, you don't know my scale. How is it possible for me to sing on this scale? Is it a mistake ? Laxmi-ji replied. Devar-Ji was asking to further raise the pitch. Kishore-Da couldn't even attempt that song. Dejected and in extreme anger, Kishore-Da dropped the headphones and left the studio but while leaving the studio he told them to call Rafi Saab, because he is the only person in the industry who can record this song (copybook singer according to you) Rafi Saab was called in.
