This evening only i experienced the patriarchal mindset of women ( last point). I am from a very small district in Maharashtra, not too backward but at the same time not too open. As a 22 year old who was brought up by a single widowed mother, i am compartively more independent than other girls in family , my thoughts don't allign on few topics such as: 1: People close to us (women especially) questioning my mother on her travel to other nearby bigger city for work purpose, saying that can't any man from your office do that in your place. 2. My interest in property matters. ( I am older then my brother n manage accounts ) 3. My mothers wish to divide property between me and my brother n relatives reaction on that the girl will go to " her " home , then what will happen to your property her husband will become the owner of that half , dismissing my right and my ability to manage the half of property, of which i am already managing from past 3 years( ye toh apne ghar chali jayegi , kya hoga phir). 4.women themselves putting other women down in work space for her promotion 5.Any mishape with woman in workspace is her fault as (agar ache ghar ki hoti toh apni hadd pata hoti)if she were of good character this wouldn't have happened. 6. My father's brothers, contacting my younger brother who is still a student n not involved in family matters bypassing my mother and me , as the "youngest" is man of your house. Last point is a between siblings, if there are two girls or two boys , the responsibility of younger is far less on elder one unlike in case of the girl being older , the boy being younger. Though taking care of younger sibling is not bad at all but if the younger is never held accountable for disrespect n not taught to respect the elder sibling, it creates a bitter relationship. Sorry for venting.

If a woman is working and if she is single, most of the time is believed in Indian society that she is easily available, being an architect/interior designer poori zindgi lag jaati hai prove karne main ki she is here purely for professional reasons and is not available sexually. thanks for raising this issue, very brave and much needed action from your part, thanks an god bless

Problem is, of any woman raises the issues that women face or speak against patriarchy, then she is tagged as feminist. It is true that women in MNCs have to prove themselves by doing atleast twice as good, to get equal recognition. Because, they cannot be friendly with their bosses or seniors. If they do, then they are misunderstood. If they don't, then a make colleague, who is more friendly with boss, gets the promotion, better rating.

Sir is right..there is a patriarchy in Indian society..women face a hard time..proving themselves..there is not much family wealth on women name..everything belongs to brother or husband..only security is job..if any problem in job then women is left with nothing..everyone is there to take seva from women..parents in laws expects her to take care of them in old age ..she is supposed to take care if kids home cooking old parents in laws..on top of that job career..but she is not given an property or assets in most of the homes…

Daughter have right in there parents property. If husband put his asset on wife , he lose his security in his relationship.. his wealth is his only security what he have . If he given to her she feel she don't need him (plz thing on basic gender psychology) Expecting wife to takjng care of family is not patriarchy , its simple traditional role in marriage "women serve & men provide". Bcz men select a women who can serve for him & women select a men who provide.. And ukw in marriage law court never mention the women who take care of his family then she is entitled to get some his wealth. Unko maintenance tab bhi milega agar wo family child aur husband ke liye kuch na kare ... And if u really want to know what happend if wife have right on husband property look at the west side , women initiate divorces get his half wealth even his house ... and he become homeless and dosent see his child again ...Matriarchy U only see patriarchy on economic basis and some how if we give u what u want then did u give what we want(with paper work)?

Thanks for speaking on this. 👍 A handful of examples can't represent all women in the country. Most of the educated women are not able to work as they get no support from their families whatsoever.. And a woman in a position of power denying patriarchy in society is the biggest shame. Men are still changing slowly and trying to support them but females in the family can't see other women succeed.. This is a bigger issue.😔😔

As a young man, I feel patriarchy is mostly economic nowadays rather than social. Nirmala Aunty's statement is based on individual success and doesn't address the systematic issues on large scale. While their individual success can be a way towards women's success but on the mass level actions comes from the governments(both Union & States). Because the social restrictions on women that existed 2 centuries ago doesn't now, but now we need economic empowerment in mass, and it's that economic revolution which can further cause social revolution. In India, women's employment rate is around 35% which is even lower than Bangladesh - 43%. And huge lower than slightly higher income of Vietnam- 60%+ women in workforce. In Bangladesh the readymade garments industries are exclusively employed to women resulting in higher female employment rate. So we need rather than individual aspirations to succees, collective state efforts towards mass-employment generations through especially through the secondary sector - industrial/processing jobs (small/middle/large scale, Textile etc) as they can provide employment in mass. That's the mass-economic participation of women that can financially empower them collectively upto the most poor & vulnerable sections of society that will make women independent and spontaneously break the shackles of patriarchy (without the need to shout to smash patriarchy) or any shaming.

Problems of working women that HR doesn't want to solve- - 8 hrs per day in contract but 11 hrs in office excluding commuting - office became a heavy smoking/ hookah bar. boss was chain smoker alongwith male employees - boss was an alcoholic & would come drunk in the afternoon n leave in a few hours. Male employees would join him at night & next morning they came to office with hangover - boss tried sexual harassment with most female employees . Copying the boss , male employees also tried the same - females bitched & gossiped about other females n spread fake news. All tried to interfere in the personal lives of female employees - salary came 2 -3 weeks late in account - not enough holidays & no sick leave. salary was cut by Rs 1000 per day if i was sick - office was a toxic workplace with seniors bullying screaming yelling at juniors; there were some physical fights too with males pushing females - filthy toilets, bad coffee , no canteen or meals - obviously this office closed down after just 1 year

Being a teacher, you have to stand and teach even during menstrual cramps.you will get yelled at by female senior teacher, female coordinator, principal : why are you not taking rounds in class. Only 2 toilet in school which is used by students ( girls+ boys),teachers(male+ female),cleaners and principal as well. No working exhaust fan in toilet, only for show. Toilet smells like potty+urine all the time. There no facility, no time-break for you to change your pads during first 2-3 days of heavy menstrual flow. In no case you can take leave or ask to go home early, during heavy blood flow days. Reason: We have also managed in this, and have worked for so many years.If you want to work, work in this only. Cost of aspiring to become a strong independent women.

Marriage me name, surname sab change karo, dowry do aur fir poori life servent bane raho. Uske bad bhi husband loyal hoga iski koi guarantee nahi. Khud ki identity to kis chidiya ka nam hai 90% ladies ko pata he nahi hai India me. Aise ladies ke bache bhi gulami ki masikta wale he hote hain. What a realistic view and close to the truth about ground realities? You always help to add missing information about sensitive issues without abusing others. I also started to think in more comprehensive views about problems. Leftist think tanks make patriarchy a very big issue that It disconnected us from ground realities. Patriarchy is an issue but women's problems include many things such as education, health, lack of respect, need to prove their character, etc.
@nimbupaani6335
@nimbupaani6335 Ай бұрын
Both parties have pros and cons. We men are not born with value we have to create our value, we have to earn, otherwise nobody would respect us. Women even if they don't earn her father/husband always there to support financially, she can be dependent on men for shelter, food etc. nobody gives a F about adult man who doesn't earn forget about giving shelter nobody will respect him. education, health, lack of respect, need to prove their character - These are applicable to both genders not just women.

My manager is unable to give me meaningful work because he feels that people won’t listen to me since i am a woman.. he’s not pushing for my promotion because they need men to head the position and i ask too many questions, i am ambitious and they don’t want women to be in a leader’s position. Finding jobs too has become quite tough, as it’s the same outside as well. I am working on developing my own thing now, i can’t sustain in such toxicity. I agree with you 50%, sir. Many of the most physically demanding labor jobs are performed by men, as they often require physical strength that many women may not possess due to natural limitations. However, I feel that the discussion tends to overlook this aspect. I’m not denying that women face challenges, but the narrative often seems to paint men as oppressors while ignoring their contributions and struggles.

That's the mass-economic participation of women that can financially empower them collectively upto the most poor & vulnerable sections of society that will make women independent and spontaneously break the shackles of patriarchy (without the need to shout to smash patriarchy). With greater participation of women, more contribution per capita to national economy thus more developed nation too.

Amit ji, so well said about menstrual health. We should do a small interactive session on this. We meet so many young girls and women across India and seen women sharing their menstrual stories/ challenges with us.
