You have a reason to be proud. This is exactly how "Unknown #3" sounds in the newest 1987 rehearsal leak.

Yep, and I just heard that for the first time this week. Just when you think you know it all, it's great.

Fraczewski I heard a high quality remaster of Unknown #3 and yes it appears to be the one from Unknown #3. 0:39 is what Krist plays during the verse of the song, if you listen carefully to Unknown #3 you can hear it 0:55 Matches the guitar riff and is even more noticeable in Unknown #3’s recordings. The guitar parts at the end of Moby Dick jam resembles Unknown #3’s guitar riffs but with very heavy distortion and somewhat different. This video is the highest quality version of the song (enhanced) if you put in headphones and listen very closely to the bass (it’s a little bit hard to hear) you will hear the bass riffs at the end here match with the enhanced version kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIDRiJR_ZrdjqbM

You sir are a true detective. Hope you heard the un-named song today. It's really good.

@Abraham Sink also named Weirdo according to researchers

Nirvana was definitely known for improvising and getting crazy at shows sometimes, so it wouldn't surprise me if Krist was messing around with a song they were working on
@Ivegotwormsinme9 жыл бұрын
Jan Coleman That's what I was thinking as well. I've been to a ton of shows and most bands do this as filler in between songs.

Sounds like the bass intro to Hairspray queen cut in half and Kurt just strangling his guitar with distortion effect as usual. Sounds pretty cool the way you mixed it.

I swear that I have heard some of those parts on the 'With The Lights Out' box set.

The Multi Hobby Man Yeah, you're right, the bass line is at the end of "Raunchola/Moby Dick" (Track 10 on CD 1)
@shadowXP69 жыл бұрын
sounds like some variation of radio friendly unit shifter without kurt's polychorus haha
unknown 3 also labeled "weirdo", this seems to be a different version than the leaked one

0:46 Sounds like the bass line of sappy, but just playing the first note of the strum pattern Maybe im wrong, but for me, it sounds like sappy

Yup, this is Unknown #3 from '87 rehersal tape, aka 'Weirdo'. I wish they would publish more of Kurts writings! Maybe not so much the super personal stuff like love letters, but like try going through those acclaimed 4,000 pages and find the fucking lyrics to this song lol! Id scream my head off in a minute to cover this!

On the setlist for the January 23rd show in small writing at the bottom it says “new weird” and the rumored title for this track is “weirdo”. So it was probably meant to be played but I guess it fell through?
@cherrykoolaiddisasters4 ай бұрын
Pretty late, but I posted the same thing on reddit about the exact same thing you’re talking about. That was related to the Moby Dick jam at the end of Erectum. To be exact it reads “New weird zeppelin end freak out”.

the bassline sounds a bit like Devo "Mongolid" to me. At least the part after the first 2 notes of the bass line.

try to find a way to download the leaked Unknown #3 clip from here and clean it up the way you know how and I figured out the lyrics.

the weird thing is that the recording you hear after gypsies tramps and thieves is actually supposed to be the track before gypsies tramps and thieves on the full rehearsal tape and is the beggining of unknown number 3

please try to figure out a way to beef the real song up from the '87 demo. Especially kurts vocals cause it sounds like this would be the way they would have gone with a fourth album. this If You Must and Ivy League would be a good start for something that could have turned out 10x heavier than a Mayhem album
@Biozeminado6 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure that by 1994, both "Weirdo" and "If You Must" had been ditched for a long time. I mean, why else would they never play the songs live or in the studio ever again after March 1988?
@usslongbeachcg96 жыл бұрын
Gamer#1 true, but why wouldn't they revisit older material to a degree like they did on Incesticide. hell they could have redone Weirdo and Mrs. Butterworth in studio, then you have Weirdo, Mrs. Butterworth, If You Must, Ivy League, and You Know You're Right all as material that wasnt used for an album that could have potentially been used on a 4th album, had they had the chance to make one.
@usslongbeachcg96 жыл бұрын
Gamer#1 thats 5 songs. half of the normal tracklist of all 3 albums
@Biozeminado6 жыл бұрын
Willam Shelton First of all, Incesticide is a *Compilation Album* (not a studio album like Bleach, Nevermind, and In Utero), featuring previously recorded, yet unreleased material. This was material that they had backlogged in their trove of recordings. *None* of the content on that album was re-recorded for specific use on Incesticide. Second of all, they probably wouldn't have attempted those songs in the studio again for the same reason that "Blandest" and "Token Eastern Song" we're never attempted in the studio again. Because it was old material that they were ready to move on from. Both "'Ivy League'" (if that's even the real name of this jam) and "You Know You're Right" were just written by the time Kurt was planning Nirvana's fourth record, so those most probably would have ended up on the record (except for 'ivy League' which feels more like b-side material for a future single [maybe YKYR, but who knows]). Either way, there was no way that these songs would ever have been attempted again.
@usslongbeachcg96 жыл бұрын
b-side material? Ivy Leaugue is the way Nirvana should have gone heavier and heavier.

This is Weirdo (a.k.a. Unknown #3)

Just seeing this now, after making up a "theory" that Unknown #3 turned into Erectum, which turned into RFUS.

@garrettlifespan44968 жыл бұрын
The song after the Cher cover is called Weirdo it's Nirvana's rarest song and the full version is already out there from the 1987 rehearsal tape when they were still Skid Row nice try though.

Only, if you listen to that song again --- the bass line matches up.

these parts you mixed together are actually “unknown #3,” also known as weirdo. i want to cover it so bad.
