Nirvana For Mice and Amygdala by Henry Cow (1973)

Found this album in the cutout bin at a Washington DC record store while on vacation when I was 16. It was sometime around 1980 and I think it was $0.99. I had to wait till I got home, of course, to listen to it. At first I didn't get it, but over the years it never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for the upload!

Should be noted this is from the 1991 reissue edition of LEGEND. Remixed at Cold Storage & Red Shop Studios, May/Aug 1990. Lindsay Cooper's bassoon on "Amygdala" was recorded Aug '90.

It is attested that while Virgin lost the stereo master, Henry Cow had the multitrack tapes to Leg End as acquired from their termination contract with the record label to remix the whole album according to Cutler and Piekut. I would support a re-remixing where it sound like an 4K (hi-fi) equivalent of a homely lo-fi original mix, rather than being reverb drenched like the 1990s mix which is surprisingly full of sonical clarity; if they still have the tapes. It’s asking a bit too much but the album also merits a surround remix as well; I could imagine the speakers being filled with a snazzy combo organ.
