All musicians should be like Kurt. Not showing off. Not caring if he plays badly. Just enjoying the music he is making.
@EarendilUndomiel10 жыл бұрын
"Not showing off" I can agree with. "Enjoying the music" I can also agree with, but "Not caring if he plays badly"? Consert tickets are expensive, you should get what you paid for. Nobody goes to a consert to hear something they could have done better in their own basement. Not that this has anything to do with this performance, but a musician should play well.
@DKChubs10 жыл бұрын
They were basically a punk band, so all of those things kinda make sense. The records might have made them sound 'bigger' than they actually were, but when you get right down to it, they were punks.
@EarendilUndomiel10 жыл бұрын
He didn't kill himself because he became mainstream, he killed himself because he was manic depressive. The fame may have had something to do with it, but if he was only upset about his mainstream popularity he would've quit music, not killed himself. Believe me, the human mind has to go through a lot of terrible things to resort to suicide. Kurt was a tortured soul, and I think it's an insult to his memory to say that he killed himself because he became "mainstream".
@EarendilUndomiel10 жыл бұрын
Plus, Nirvana was never bad in concert, if they sounded bad it was because of PA problems, not the band's playing.

This performance of Smells Like Teen Spirit smells like its on Speed.
Its weird watching this, because, remember, Kurt was 24 at this time. Its strange thinking that all the 24 year olds I know are all just dumb kids who are still naive, but here Kurt plays with such raw emotion and has some dark wisdom that you forget he's pretty much still a kid, or a very young man. To me especially though, since he hasn't been alive in my lifetime, he seems also like a legend or hero because in my world he never really existed and these songs are just kind of things left behind. It might sound a little bit corny, but its why he has such an impact on me because I often forget that this is just a young man playing a guitar and not some kind of myth or fantasy hero. In short- Kurt is cool, go Nirvana.

I think you are underestimating many 24 year olds and severely overestimating Kurt. If he hasn't been alive in your lifetime, then you are under the age of 21. I don't think you can judge 24 year olds while you're so young.

You fucking neophyte. They are together. They might not be touring right now, or recording new material, it's just that Kurt is dead. Bands sometimes don't record or go on tour for up to 20 years without breaking up. Remember the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction a couple of years ago? Of course you don't, because you're probably a 13 year old poser.

This in my opinion is the best concert, because the fact that there wasn't any fails in all the songs they performed, they got all the songs, and the notes perfectly with no stutters, or Kurt being high. Not saying that they suck on all the other concerts, just saying that they were perfect in this one.

Kurt. A sensitive kid that cared too much. Overflowing with passion and compassion. And to dull the pain, he fed himself heavy doses of apathy. In trying to fight his nature, he became a walking contradiction in many ways. When you fill your head with enough contradiction, the only thoughts that make sense are the persistent, simple, logical statements. Creative artist aside, he should not be considered a role model, but rather a living reminder of what happens when you emotionally, mentally, and physically choose the path of least resistance. “He became a star and influenced millions!” yeah and he couldn’t even enjoy it; for an empath to take in the joys of stardom, performance art, fatherhood, etc, they must also take in the sorrow, the shame, the rage. He chose apathy, and clung onto it for life, and then it killed him. Not giving af is a tool, not a lifestyle. Kinda like being an ahole, sometimes you gotta be an ahole, but you don’t wanna make a lifestyle out of it. Tools have a purpose, and when you’re done with it, you put it away. Enjoy the tunes kids.
