Brings me back my high school years the year that Grunge took over. I never thought in my life that Nirvana would make me feel old but wow that was a long time ago.

You may feel old...but Grunge was a pivotal change in the evolution of modern music. And as a witness to this phenomenon - I feel privileged 😉

Kirk Cobain transmitted so much rebellion, angst and just raw emotion. He laid himself wide open. Poor soul

The drummer, Dave Grohl, went on to create the Foo Fighters. You should definitely check them out. Try The Pretender, Best of You, All My Life, Monkey Wrench, Everlong, and Learn to Fly. ❤️🤘🏼

So the custodian has significant meaning to Kurt. He had dropped out of high school, and shortly after was working back at the High School as a custodian. While still working on his craft. I had read that in an interview with him back in the day. He said he was embarrassed about it. I was a senior in High School 1994. My step mom got me a subscription to Rolling Stone magazine and I used to read all those interviews religiously. Great time to be a music fan, great bands.

The director of this video also directed “Zombie” by The Cranberries, arguably the best protest song/video ever.

Some Grunge fans may not agree...but give a listen to Courtney Love’s album “Live Through This” which was released following Kurt Cobain’s death. IMO this album is an excellent representation of the Grunge music culture; and Love’s solid contribution to it 😉

It may be difficult to understand why this particular song from this particular band is so important to the history of music, but it was basically the moment that pop music transitioned away from the hair metal bands of the 80's into the grungier alternative bands of the 90's. For some perspective, this song came out the exact same year as November Rain. Only a few days before the album that November Rain was on, in point of fact. Bands like Guns N Roses never really could keep up with the sudden shift, and slowly faded into the background. Even Metallica had to reinvent themselves to remain commercially relevant, much to the displeasure of a large portion of their fanbase. Bands like Nirvana had been around for quite some time before this song dropped, but this was what put that sound of music on the spotlight, center stage, and signaled the change of the decade's attitude and aesthetics.

What I love in this video are the cheerleaders. See my mom was head cheerleader and pushed me to do it. I did it to please her. I hated it. I was a heavy metal fan/goth / gymnast and did not fit in. Well they didn't like me much either. Anyway, I love the cheerleaders in this video. They have tats and eyeliner. There hair isn't perfect and they look like wild girls. I can see them putting on leather jackets instead of letterman jackets. Just saying. Love it.

Can you PLEASE do My dark place alone by Murderdolls? Its not PG but it means a lot to me because it basically let's people know what its like to be bipolar. It does say the F word a lot so I do understand if you can't. If not can you atleast do Nowhere by Murderdolls, Evil is good by Frankenstein drag queens from planet 13, or Drink till you ain't ugly anymore by the bourbon crows. (Country song)
