When I listen to the Unplugged version, the guitar solo at the end always makes me tearful. Hearing this version and hearing Kurt wail in harmony with it... my god. Knowing what the pain, sadness, and loneliness led to just a few months later? Unplugged or live and loud, it's heartbreaking.

Like the acoustic version better; don't think some people realize (after getting clean, divorce cortney asap & trying to get daughter) his 93 lyrics are from stories in the Bible; sound style mellowed a bit.

this version is much more in sync with Bowie's. The lead is Bowie harmonizing at the end. Regardless, both versions are beautiful yet chilling at the same time. If it gives you goosebumps, than the musician did their job.

well I am 5 years younger than Kurt on the music side he was a legend as a human being not so much he was complicated and sadly he didn't treat others well he used to use then stiff people he had a good side to him as well the most important thing I can say was he was a human being with a lot of flaws kids seem to think using heroin and killing yourself is cool I don't get it is the most selfish thing you can do to your family and friend's I don't claim to be a better person because I am not but I am an honest person when we look at people you have to see the whole person just not the good side or we never learn from our own or others mistakes

Fun fact: The Live and Loud concert was taped 3 days before Unplugged was set to air to the world, so this was the first time anybody besides those who were at their unplugged taping a month before that heard how magical Kurt was at this cover. In short the crowd at this taping had no idea what the significance that the Nirvana version of this song would have hence why they didn’t go as insane for this song as they did for the other songs at this taping.

This is the version I grew up knowing... When the finally solo plays, he's droning along with vocals over it. I can't tell you how many times I've been called out in the Navy some 20 years ago for going into that vocal over the final guitar solo. I knew I heard it somewhere!

this song just shows how great of a rhythm section nirvana really had. 2 of the greatest at what they do and i feel like they never get any credit. Krist has been one of my biggest influences in music (i’m a bassist). Dave is just so creative and always in the pocket. Then you throw on top of that pat and kurt. Man this band was something special.

I’m sitting here with my jaw on the floor blown completely away!! Both versions are absolutely amazing!! I don’t love one more than the other. I’m angry I didn’t know this information before so I could have appreciated Nirvana’s so much more when it came out ❤️. Bowie is a legend that will be missed for years to come and so will Kurt. This is one of their best performances. The place was filled with just the right amount of people. It feels comfortable, like they were able to lock in with the sound and more importantly the feeling. I think cypress hill and the beastie boys also played this night. I used to borrow the recorded copy my brother had on VHS all the time. I was already listening to underground music long before this, thanks to older brothers and the left side of the radio, but this let me know the real shit was about to be unleashed unto the world at large. Wish Kurt was here still. Woulda been fucking cool to hear and see him.
