Im from Serbia,Im 34yo and I have tried veal tail for the first time 5 months ago.Omg it's soooo good.I also have never heard of it before.I litterally thought theybwould bring me whole tail to munch on 😂 I just know one restaurant in Belgrade that has it,and i found it on youtube chanel Marka Zvaka.They usualy review great placea to eat.I was lucky since it was a walk away from me. And dude,you hit the rarity of good food,who ever told you the place,knkws his stuff.It's an old Serbian recepie.

I agree. I been to many places and had many dishes and this is STILL the best meaty dish that I've had IN MY LIFE! Too good. I'm grateful i was in Nis. It is food heaven! i wonder why it never gets talked about. People know Italy and Greece for food but no one talks about Nis. Serbians need to work on their marketing. But, i heard even Serbs don't tell other Serbs about the good spots to avoid over crowded areas lol.

​@@EvanRamani With all due respect, the last thing I want when having a gourmet food and vine are tourists asking multiple questions, usurping the waiters and being overly loud while totally sober! And you know quite well that Americans can be recognized in Europe not only by their " fashion sense " and obesity, but also by being louder than the Italians themselves! Not to mention that tourists drive the prices up and quality down. But you get a pass since you speak the language of Jesus himself!😉

It's called ox tail in the States, great delicacy! Originally it's served with the bones, but since ther's high demand for it, they take the meat of the vertebrae and mix it with other parts of beef and some smoked bacon. One place in Nis serves it on the bone, it's called 3 Fenjera ( 3 lanterns), close to the Main Bus Station.

just found your channel, that's the food I'd recommend too. The place you visited at the beginning of the video is the ruin of a Mosque from Ottoman times.

@@EvanRamani next time you go to Dagi or Mehana, order some "Belmuž" it's a south serbian specialty. It's like a side dish, very tasty. I think it's called Kuymak in the middle east.

@@EvanRamani Did you try lamb under clay ("jagnejtina ispod saća"). It is best in mountain regions but Niš also has a several places that prepare it masterfully :)

@@svarozjov first time i heard of it. It looks like the other dish i ordered on google images but it's different i guess. Looks really really good!! Next time i'm in Serbia i guess. Had no idea there were so many hidden dishes. Serbs need to share more. Keeping all these secrets lol.

​@@EvanRamani Not a secret at all, the problem with most of the foreigners is that first thing they ask when they come to Serbia is: "Where is the nearest MacDonalds or KFC?" The furthest they go is fast food stands, pljeskavice i pekare... And then, when they leave, they are talking for hours what are 2 dish difference in Serbian MacDonald menu, and how there is very few Thai food restoraunts :) Complaining there is no Thailand restoraunt on every corner :))) You are at least on good path :) P. S. And here is one secret you might don't know. The best food in Serbia is not in restoraunts or kafanas, if you want to eat something that would definetively blow your mind irreversably, you must make friends with hunters and fishermens. What that bunch can prepare, that on Blue Ribbon Academy cannot even imagine :)

from what i remember, this was one of the best dishes i have had in my life. The other one close to a 10 was a kebab/doner from a dude that was from Dubai. Opened a kebab/doner restaurant in Bangkok. Totally unexpected. But, i highly recommend this stuff! if you get the chance, it is a MUST. :)
