Another example of how the U.K. and U.S. aren't so different after all. That isn't a compliment! Here in the U.S. the rich pay next to nothing in taxes while the ever shrinking middle class is supposed to pay for everything. This tax in the U.K. should be something that everyone pays with the amount based on their income levels. Imagine how much better off the NHS would be then! Of course, I say this as an American, where we can't have a similiar health service because everyone would have to contribute and that fairness just can't happen!

Income level-based taxes tax income and thus disproportionately working people rather than the wealth tucked away by the well-off and rich. I agree that the current taxing regime empties the pockets of the poor and middle class but taxing wealth and assets is the surely the only way of targeting the wealth of the wealthy!

@@adamhaycock7982 Taxing the wealthy on non-income money would be an additional tax. I would still like wealthy CEOs, etc. to pay their fair share of taxes based on their incomes. Closing tax loopholes would be a good start. It's unlikely that any of this will happen since the wealthy control the government in the U.S., but perhaps it isn't as bad in the U.K.! Somehow I doubt it. Lol

@@jordyb8021 Why haven't you used the NHS that you've contributed to in the last 10 years? Do you really think that everyone using the NHS is fat and unemployed? Where are your statistics to back that up? If you are fortunate enough to be able to afford private medical care, well than good for you. You're choosing not to use the NHS. Do the working poor in your country have that choice? Should there be no NHS, because you don't want to use it? You are making it "unfair" on yourself by not using a system that you're paying into, which seems a bit crazy to me. If I was paying for it, then I would get my money's worth.

I agree, all the government needs to do is block all of the tax evasion loopholes as well as charging corporation tax, so the Treasury would gain hundreds of billions of pounds. However I know they won't do that because that means they will lose money from their own pockets. Not funny but true

God, but I've missed you, Nish. The one thing you missed here is that the "key demographic" supporting these cartoon villain Tories is not actually the elderly but the gammonfolk. And, yeah, that's a very hard point to drive home for even a much-loved brown man in Tommy Robinson's Britain, but facts is facts. Here's another way to look at this. Consider the Scots, the Irish and, to a much lesser extent, the Welsh. In the Age of Carlyle--himself a sort of Scot--those devious Celts were not even considered "human," much less Britons (even though that term originally meant those despised bogtrotters and not the Anglo-Saxon/Viking/whatever invaders who pushed them back like the Americans did their previous inhabitants.) I mean, just look at how deeply the UK government distrusted the Welsh during "the War," the one event that seems to have somehow eclipsed 2000 years of British history. (What Enclosure Acts? What Highland Clearances? What crushing subjugation in Ireland?) And you don't have to have listened to the great Welsh band Man in the '70s or have read "The Welsh Girl" to understand how even the most "assimilated" of the Celtic peoples (since the Breton, Manx and Cornish were simply erased) were systematically, intentionally despised and then steamrolled under the Gammon Wave of Winnie's celebrated "British unity" in defiance of lunatic Hitler's naziboys...who so coincidentally had so much in common with Farage's UKIP-ers.
