Laowa also have a 14mm f/4, could be interesting to compare it with the NiSi 15mm

An awesome and great review on a couple of lenses that are pretty much ignored by most reviewers but are of great interest to most photographers I believe. Nice views of Aberystwyth too!

Perfect video! Choosing between these two. I need a wide angle for night street photography and Laowa seems to be the one!

How about square 100mm filters like Cokin Z-Pro, Cokin NX and Nisi holders? Is this lens vigneting with such holders? Does it require wider holder?
@MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tested this personally, but Nisi states it is compatible with the 100mm holder.

I love voigtlander 15mm/f4.5 super wide heliar III. Sunstar, good IQ, small size, but built-in hood really sucks. This NiSi 15m/f4 seems perfect to me.

Nisi is on 200 bucks discount right now at 380 is a no brainer

Another interesting comparison is with the irix 15mm 2.4. Larger size and strong vinjetting @f2.4 but @f4 it is much lower. Fairly sharp and similar price too
@MathieuGasquetMirrorLessons3 жыл бұрын
Oh you're right, I forgot about the Irix. Is there are an E-mount version?
@martinrosen97423 жыл бұрын
No unfortunately not, but canon ef, nikon f and pentax is available. I use it on my R6 with good results.

awesome review as always, Matt. Gotta give credit to Nisi for their very first lens. If not for that, this lens would have made zero sense. 2 stops slower than Laowa, and same size and almost the same weight. The price difference is not significant enough to justify the 2-stop loss especially for those that work in low light. Well at least people have more options now

Saving of half the price or a saving of £470 in the UK by the look of it. Less of a saving elsewhere [is the Laowa overpriced in the UK?]. For those not wanting it for especially low light and with cameras perfectly capable of at least ISO 10,000, it makes perfect sense. I'd take the £470 saving for this lens personally.
