In this video I take you step by step through a rear speaker install in a 2003 Nissan 350Z. Installing rear speakers is a little involved because you have to take apart the vehicle in a particular order to access the rear speakers.

After you get the 2 small rear cubby/storage boxes out, look up inside with a flashlight and you will see the little metal "retainer clips" that hold the dual speaker panel in place. If you push up on the bottom of the clips they will pop up+release that section of the panel. After the the "retainer clips" are released, go to the trunk area and pull the panel (starting at one side) a little rearward to release the top dual speaker panel from the vertical trunk panel (there are 6 places where the 2 panels connect to each other). Don't pull it too fast or you can break where they connect. I can't believe the video poster left that part out. Maybe he forgot to film that part..

Hey guys and @ unfinishedquest89, my birthday is coming up and I’ve had my cerulean bay blue 2003 Nissan 350z for almost 5 years now, she’s running strong @205,XXX miles. I’m treating myself to a sub today, there’s two amps in the back, so many cool things going on guys, her clutch is great feeling, a little squeaky but that’s ok right?? I truly enjoy conversing with my fellow 35de prior and current owners. We all can agree this car is special. What blows my mind is that it is the same from the R34 yet it does not come turbo charged yet has the longevity of a 200k mile turbo charged skyline, yet NA. I mean that she stands to stride and stretch her legs for many years to come. Can I ask y’all for some advice?? Of course I wish to keep her stock. Oh, gotta go wife is calling

Great video. Thanks for posting. I noticed at 6:09 in the video there's an aftermarket sub in the stock location in a custom enclosure. Do you have dimensions for that enclosure? +j pugs Unfortunately I didn't build that enclosure, so you'll have to measure. I would also start from scratch because you want your enclosure dimensions to be matched to whatever sub woofer you intend on installing.

This is verified online in the only post we could find online regarding the rear panel removal on the roadsters. I have some nice Rockford Fosgate's I want to install. How did you do it without breaking these pins. There are two per side and replacement is $70 each! I don't want to pay $280 for pins that as of right now are fine!

You can get adapters from the stock harness to universal speaker outs like these: www.crutchfield.com/p_120727400/Metra-72-7400-Speaker-Wiring-Harness.html?tp=3097 and with that you hook up the new speakers still powered by the headunit. If you're gonna use a 4-channel amp for the rears and door components you'll likely be running your own new lines from your install location to the speakers.

I have a question that you probably can answer. I recently installed a new Head unit in my 350 and it's really quiet unless I turn it almost all the way up. Is that the factory Bose amp messing with it and how could I bypass it to get rid of the problem.It's an 08 350z.
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 7 жыл бұрын
On the 350Z's and G35's you have to gain the factory amp. So you have to turn the volume up on the factory head unit 3/4 of the way up then turn off the system and unplug it. Did you speaker level in or use the harness using the pre-outs?
@501joshb
@501joshb 7 жыл бұрын
+AnthonyJ350 I used the harness. That helps a lot knowing that. I plan on doing a full speaker swap soon.
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 7 жыл бұрын
501joshb If you plan on doing a full speaker swap I highly suggest bypassing the Bose amp and install either a 5 channel or a small footprint amp like Alpine's power pack. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqfdgGWFjchmpKs kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3KVZZ57ga-Xi6s

AnthonyJ350 yeah thats it, bro!!! I was taking all the panels out yesterday and when i got to that lighter plug part i got stuck. i was trying hard to pull it out and it wouldnt come out. it took me 2 hrs to figure it out. i think that because it had never been taken out it just got stock there really hard. i was trying to be gentle and not brake it so i got a tiny screw driver and push it out super slow. Thank you so much for replying bro I really appreciate that.

The 350Z is very aftermarket friendly however, the 370Z is similar. Small problem to deal with compared to newer cars and how complex they are and panels in newer vehicles not wanting to come apart as easily.
