Here is my 05 Armada JBA titanium header install tips. Part number 6400SJT. Don't remove the motor mounts, only the bracket. I used PRT performance B pipes, 4 stock Sensors in OEM locations. part 2 • Nissan Armada/Titan lo... . I did not do any tuning! No Check engine lights!

I just drove 2 cross country trips. About 2k+ miles each one. Texas to Florida and then TX to Tenn. Average 18mpg, I was hoping for more, need to retest with no AC on.My record was 19mpg years ago. I did notice the passenger floor warmer than normal. Also some heat on drivers side after HOURs of 70+ mph driving. So will look at the heat shields. The B pipe cats are NOT in original location anymore. But no CEL, no leaks (reused old gaskets) and runs excellent, cruises 75mpg at 2k no problem.

I have the same set up with Cajun B pipes and I did not notice big fuel econ improvements until I added a cat back system.

Thanks for the tip on removing the intake tube to do the driver side. Cracked every single nut with just a 15" breaker bar and 2 different length 14mm socket

Just did mine today. Removed tires and wheel wells. Unbolted one motor mount at a time and removed/ installed headers. Only took me about 5 hours tops for just the header. I had to replace both motor mount since the header tubes hit the frame. All said and done including trip to the store was about 7.5 hours.

Cajun makes some good B-pipes. I have some catless Cajun b-bipes on my T and they sound great. I can hear a slight ticking in my headers, so I figure I need to replace them as well.

Mine reached to the bottom bung my mechanic did it yesterday. Idk why people said they didn't reach. I have 2004 Nissan Titan. I relocated to the bottom bung because thats for the 4 cylinders the top bung reads for 1 cylinder and you don't want to run it that way.

Going to do headers soon once I get them and have a weekend. I went with AFE Headers and exhaust because Made in USA. Was disappointed to see JBA to be made in Mexico which nothing wrong at least it isn't China but I like to buy domestic as much as I can. Would a shop be able to tune my truck?

I have a leak on my Armada and am considering upgrading to headers. I have read that uprev or similar tuning changes are needed to prevent lean running conditions associated with the improved air flow. Maybe since you still have stock muffler this has not been an issue for you? Have you noticed any issues that indicate you will need to customize the engine tuning?

The B pipes are the critical part. So far no issues and run excellent. Been towing a 4k lb trailer lately and I can cruise 60mph under 2k RPM. I did find out cadillac uses the same o2 sensors, so was going to see how long those are. Want to relocate to the lower hole one day. This is why I choose the PRT performance B pipes. They are the only brand that claims don't need a programmer. The other 2 brands I found where not very clear. I doubt a muffler will make a difference on CEL. I have ran lots of glasspacks and magna mufflers on my other trucks with no issues with emission testing. I have a glasspack after OEM cat on my 95 Hardbody and it is sniff tested every year. Plus the cat has 380k miles on it!

I didnt replace my heat shield either on the passenger side. What a pain in the ass to put it back on. I left the damn thing off. My truck is a 2005 with 290,000 miles on her. I only changed the passenger side header and 2nd pipe.

When i did my 2006 titan i just loosened the motor mount bolts half way and jacked it up. I never removed the motor mount screws all the way out. Long tubes STILLEN.

Question with the manifold Cajun I can pass emissions test ? They hook into car computer for the test here in Chicago ... another question the car need to be tune after manifold Cajun ? And I can keep my exhaust system cat back magnaflow ? Another question which is the difference between Cajun stage 1 and stage 2 ?

JBA is 49 state legal. I passed no issue here in TX, no programming needed. You do need the B pipes. I used PRT B pipes to keep it legal.

How did you get the motor mount bracket back on after the headers were in??? In stuck there. Cant get the 2 bolts in on one side.

I have an 08 and it makes a little noise when i first start it then in about 5 seconds the noise is gone any ideas? Drivers side somewhere around the header.

Sounds like a classic exhaust leak. The heat expands and the noise goes away. These headers are noiser than stock exhaust. But hopefully they will last long time.

Are the bungs supposed to go into whichever o2 sensor slot you are not using? At 13:03.

I think you mean bung plugs. Yes there is plugs go in the extra bungs to plug them up. You only need 1 sensor per manifold. Just like stock.

Does the engine have to be raised the 1" if OEM manifolds are being installed on the driver's side? Or is that only to install the JBA headers?

No, its because the headers are bigger than stock.

I think so. But I think you still need to remove the motor mount bracket. Dont remove motor mount. So you need to support engine wait. I never tried without removing the steel bracket.

Nissan Nut your video was a great reference. Thanks for making it. It was quite a project, but I got it done. I have a 4 x 4, so the motor mounts were alot harder to get to. Otherwise, it was tedious but worth it. Truck runs like new again. Both sides were cracked. I am kind of wishing now that I had went with the JBA'S, etc rather than Pacesetter OEM's. But, it is what it is. Thanks again.

No. Traded Armada for Frontier in 2018. Never had any issues.

i'm trying to do thins on my 2006 armada but struggling, what tools do I need to get as I only have 1 car and wouldn't wanna start and realize I need more tools. I think some parts are missing in your video about how you got the header out as I'm thinking something have to move for the header to come out maybe motor might have to move, I don't know

Only the motor mount bracket is in the way. dont remove the actual motor mount, the motor mount is the one with the rubber center. The steel bracket prevents the engine from being raised. You will need a floor jack. I also put some more details on my webpage. There is only 1 special tool needed. And its the o2 sensor one. nissannut.com/projects/headers_vk56de/ See if this helps. The instructions that came with the headers where very good. No instructions with B pipes. This video was more for the B pipe and CEL prevention tips. Do you have new B pipes?

Thanks for posting this link!!!! Best source of info I have found for removing the exhaust manifolds on an Armada. Trust me, I've looked!!! I was stuck on getting the engine to lift so I can get to the manifold nuts. Those things are really on there!

I got an 2006 titan and i put long tube headers on it and i had too loosen the motor mount screws and jack up the motor. The motor mount screws are real long so back them out half way and jack the motor till the mounts come up and touch the backed out bolt heads. Takes some time and patients.

Let's say for example I'm only doing the right side (passenger side) do I need to remove just the engine mount bracket on that side of I have to remove brackets on both side to jack up the engine. I started it but the location of the 4 bolts at the top of the engine mount bracket makes it a bit harder. Bought an impact wrench and the first one isn't even powerful enough to remove lug nuts so I bough a second one now but yet untested. Please tell me more and perhaps the special tools needed

I only removed the middle bolt on the opposite side. I used a ratchet to remove the mount from the engine block. I did use an impact on the center long bolt. But there was no rust on anything. No special tools are needed. Just a good 24" breaker bar. The hardest bolt was 1 of the 4 o2 sensors was very seized on. But all came free with 24" breaker bars.

Nissan Nut on the engine mount there a big 17 bolt which I managed to unbolt, then there are 4 other bolts holding on to the bracket I managed to loosen one but the other 3 are difficult in awkward location, I'll get there eventually

Ok now I'm understanding you, I'll remove the bracket from the passenger side and remove just the long bolt from the other side to enable me to jack up the engine, right?

Yes. The engine only needs to go up 1 inch or less after I had the block of wood installed.. My 2x4 block of wood was still touching the pan and cross member.

Mine were cracked in the exact same place. I welded mine up because someone told me that putting in headers without the cats would cause a misfire 🙄

Only the pre cats are removed with these. I had no issues using only main cats.

Should be 49 state legal. CA has a visual inspection another reason why I left. So it would fail. They need to be CARB for CA. Texas trusts the OEM computer to monitor emissions realtime, so it will pass. Texas has the same emissions standards as CA plus safety inspections EVERY year. I had a smog legal weber on my 74 Datsun. They never made one for my 85, so I had to change carbs every 2 years.

I lived in CA 21 years. Trust me I feel your pain. You will fail the visual in CA. I had a hard time with smog checks on my 74 and 85 trucks. I had a smog legal Weber carb on my 74 620! So these exhaust upgrades are only 49 state legal. Texas has the same emission tests annually, unlike CA every other year. Plus we have annual safety inspections. But the Engine will run clean and no CEL codes since I still have O2 sensors before and after the primary Cat.

Sorry to bother you again, I tried and failed as the screws are refusing to unscrew so I'm gonna take it to professionals. My new issue is about power steering. My oil is spilling out big time, drains within 10 minutes. No split or rip in the hoses but the oil is forcing itself out of the reservoir cover making a big mess under the hood and it's whining like a bimbo in a brothel. No power steering and I don't know what to do right now, noise is annoying and not having power steering is annoying, please tell me what steps to take

Sorry to hear that. Never seen a leak like that in power steering. The hoses do get hard with age and dont seal well. I need to replace mine I think. The reservoir input hoses are low pressure. I would suspect the pump supply hose is blocked.

8 hours. I only had about 2 hours each day to work on it and it took 4 days. I used mostly hand tools, no air or power tools. I think I used air tools for 2 of the engine mount bolts. I took my time and did not rush it. It could be must faster.

Reused all bolts nuts and gaskets. The OEM 10mm studs and nuts are really nice design.

I used the ports in the stock location. Not the ports at the collector. No wiring modifications needed for those ports.

Unbolt, but don't remove. The only came out with the headers. If you want to remove the have to be bent or cut.

After removing the 1 bolt. Pull straight up. Twist it to break free. Mine was tight also, it has an o ring on the end.

If you use the OEM b pipes there will be no O2 sensor AFTER the cat. So you will get a CEL and fail emissions. They will bolton to stock B pipes but you need an O2 sensor after the cat to work. So far I have 90 miles on new exhaust no issues, sounds nice and no CEL.

I do all my own maintenance last 34 years. Headers were 600 for ceramic coated. Cats (b pipes) were 250 I think. Install took a few hours. I only had 1 hour per day to work on it. Took 5 days I think.

No issues with leaks. Sounds like the B pipes where not made correctly. They need to line up perfectly flat.

The titans are oval port 1.75" dia. I do know the intakes ports center line to center line matches. Just buy the cheap gaskets from both motors, to match them up

Definitely. The MAIN CAT is on the B pipes. And the 2 sensor is after that to confirm it cleans.

you do not need the secondary cats. if you cut the pipes just behind the O2 bung and add pipe to fit it will NOT throw an engine code. driving my third titan ive done it to

Mine was a 2wd Armada. They both use the same exhaust from headers to CATs. Nissan uses same parts for 2/4wd. The frame are same, you can see the empty front diff mounts in my video.

@@droope8352 5 for the headers. no drilling or grinding needed. The heat shields took some reworking to reinstall. But the headers are easy to replace, pure bolt-on. A 4wd will take longer to work around the diff and driveshaft.

I have to replace those of my Titan .. because I try to replace the o2 sensors but they do not come out because they are very tight and the headers thread no longer adjusts... but just wondering how much my total will be...

Not sure. I do all my own maintenance. $850 was just all the parts. Use a breaker bar and some penetrating lube. Mine were very tight after 12 years. I reused them in the new headers.

I would remove the reservoir and hose that feeds the pump. Check for a blockage. I will replace my hoes one day, I think they leak a tiny bit.

Nissan Nut it's been confirmed by the loud whining noise that it's the bearing in the power steering pump hose so it looks like I need to change the pump and the pulley and maybe the belt
