This is a great example of why "location" is the first thing on the list. This car looks like a great platform for someone with skill to simply put things in the right place and see great benefits. Location Application Tuning Product

The enclosure size for the mid-bass drivers is an absolute dream! I’m sure they kick! Wow, amazing work as always. These installs inspire my setup

Have been binge watching your videos recently - attention to detail is insane. Nice to see a build that could be attainable for myself - makes me want to rip out my current speakers/amps and start fresh. This must be the coolest Cube on the block now!

What a nice build the Pillars look just like factory! I`m so hyped for the winter because I want to build some pillars for my car too... unfortunately they are very slim. You give so much inspiration out so that people know what works well. Thanks for that! I am already counting the days for emma in Salzburg... it was such a great expiriance!

Wow! You could do a lot of fun, loud things with that much room for kick bass. To me that's always the limiting factor unless you do some crazy custom door build.

Peter, what would be your thoughts on 2x helix m one X running a PG Titanium Elite 12d (first gen) in 1.6 CU box. I have had the sub stored away for a good few years was my dad's sub when he ran PG system and I think it's time to use it. I do have a JL HD 750 but it wouldn't be enough to power it am after Purley SQ, I was looking at buying a JL HD 1200 but if the helix would do a better job i would go down that route.. thanks 👍

Gorgeous pillars! I would have went with gray grill cloth so it would not detract from the view. Something that could be easily done if wanted. Very nice integration!
@pssound9749
@pssound9749 8 ай бұрын
With grey you’d need something very similar to the trim, otherwise it’s just easier to stay away from it and then black gives a nice contrast.

Great job as usual peter. Were those underseat kx3 mid enclosures 13 or 30 litres each?. And how low did you play the midbass to match with the sub?. And how would they compare to the focal twin underseat subs.
@pssound9749
@pssound9749 8 ай бұрын
@@dc5001 13.5L. The TWIN can not be used as a midbass, those are rather kick subs. They don’t play well above 130-150Hz and they don’t have extension below 60-65Hz. I’d use the TWIN in addition to a pair of midbass in a car where the usual midbass performance in a door is poor below 100Hz, so the TWIN can add tight kickbass in 70-130Hz. The KRX3 in a box does everything better, integrates to a sub and to mids better as they play way wider range than the TWINS.
@dc5001
@dc5001 8 ай бұрын
@@pssound9749 I assume you set the krx3 mid down to 60hz since the sub is playing up to 60hz in that install right?. The reason why I ask is because I would like to take my kx3 midbass out of the doors and go under the seats In a enclosure similar to the way you did this install. Just want to know how low they could play comfortably, I don't want to break the midbasses by over excursion or anything.

Hey Peter, what do you think about those focal kevlar speakers?? How much EQ did they need to get right?
@pssound9749
@pssound9749 8 ай бұрын
All of them need proper EQ work! Location, application, the whole environment in a car changes response drastically, no matter what you do. It’s the same with any speaker.

Do you guys upgrade the alternators on the car? i dont remember you guys doing it?
@pssound9749
@pssound9749 5 ай бұрын
Hi, no we don’t. An active system like this with active front and a sub upto 1kW doesn’t draw more than 70-80A max, in average 10-30A on music. I’d upgrade to a lithium battery or an additional secondary battery and you’re perfectly fine.

The mounting frame was printed, indeed, but it’s not a pod. The frame is fibreglassed onto the pillar trim.

Pete do you know of a 4”-5” driver that can handle 200hz+ and blend well with a Stevens Audio MB8-4 (98db @ 2.83v) and a Morel CAT378 (93db @ 2.83)? I looked at the Satori MR13P, Scanspeak 10f, and SB Acoustics SB17’s, but I have not looked at car audio specific brands.

Regarding your conversation about quality/price: what do you think about sound deadning? Here in the states we have some private companies that push their sound deadning products very hard while explicitly badmouthing other brands that have been around for years. So it confuses me why these individuals call these older brand products "bad" even though customers have showed support for many years back.
@AcidDeathRitual
@AcidDeathRitual 8 ай бұрын
Its pretty dumb since it's basically all the same thing, just different thickness foil and butyl, maybe some vinyl layered on top. The only deadener I know of that is actually superior would be made by Ampere Audio as it contains bitumen plastic that becomes more rigid when applied with a heat gun or torch.
@pssound9749
@pssound9749 8 ай бұрын
We honesty have no issue with the products sold here. In my eyes there is no magic with any of them. You definitely need weight to make panels rigid, no matter what. If something bonds and doesn’t become melted in the summer heat, then that’s all we need. I doubt many new brands would make it over from the other side of the pond as shipping cost would be extortionate due to weight.

Hifi has always been about system matching for the room your going to be listening in, getting it sounding great in a little tin box is a different skill. You do get what you pay for but poorly matched and badly installed gear is never going to sound good even if its super expensive. Not the first time ive attended a hifi show where a system that was over 100k still sounded terrible.I would love to put a good system in my car guess ill need to do some saving.

That Zapco amp has so many limitations that you can not even compare it! Am i full of shit? I’ve been using their gear for many years, but they never listen to the users, especially ones who truly give them feedback too! So your ST-6X DSP: yes, it’s AB class, but that’s about it! - you can not switch inputs on it, you can only use 1. Good luck if you need multiple sources! - it doesn’t have a controller, so it’s a waste of time if you want to have any sort of control or different presets - it has no remote out? WHAT? WHY? - it’s 6ch, so how would you even do 3way front + rear? No, you wouldn’t! - you still believe that class-D sounds shit? Wake up! - shall we talk about reliability and customer service? Rather not… - dsp features are way more limited, but most people can’t tune, so it doesn’t matter for them. You see we don’t bullshit! Our experience is not from just sitting behind a keyboard! Our customers are real people, not internet gurus! They tell us what they want and we deliver! We give them the best for their money and they leave our shop happy! What’s even more important is that they become lifelong clients, because they know they get the best, no matter what their budget is.
