You make the best systems. I lost interest in car audio. But then I started your videos. Now my van has full range Pilar’s etc. I learned a lot from you guys. Now I have one question. Why not a set of true infinity baffle woofers in that huge back wall. Reason I ask is I got almost the same van. And I really really really want to know.

Hi, doesnt the drivers mounted in horizontal pane cause cancelation when moving head side to side (lobbing)? It could be tune only for 1 listening position? isnt it? Vertical mount seems more logical to me.

Hey! I know you didn't do any drivers in the kicks, but I'm in the process of planning how to build a sound system in the same car (E39 touring) and plan on mount 6.5" drivers there... Do you know how much space there is either against the torpedo wall, kicks or the outer corner of the footwells? I drive a manual left hand drive car, so i have an extra pedal to take into account 😅

Is the Mercedes W212 (E-class) decent to upgrade the audio on, or is it a PITA?
@pssound9749
@pssound9749 2 күн бұрын
It depends on what you want to achieve in it. You can have mid-tweet on pillars, midbass in OEM door locations, rearfill + sub in the boot, standard daily SQ setup. You can take it further with a front sub as the passenger footwell is huge. Some people fitted large mids on dash too, so many things can be done, but nothing is plug’n’play in those like in the generation after.

@@pssound9749 Thanks for the answer, so youre saying, it´s much easier installation to get good daily SQ setup in a W213? I thought it would be more difficult because of more electronics on newer cars.

@ it’s all about speaker locations. In 213 midbass is king, pair of 8”s in the firewall which is superior to any other car platform. Mid+tweeter can also be easily upgraded with plug’n’play options, so no custom fabrication is required to get excellent results. We have several W213 and W222 S-Class shared on the channel.

It's nice that it reproduces a complete spectrum of musical genres. I can't hear the center or soundstage of course, but it sounds balanced and effortless across musical genres. My home stereo does that. I usually evaluate a system by playing pop and classical and if it handles those genres, it will usually handle all of them. Disclaimer (I don't consider rap music since there are no singers or instruments)

Hi, I have a complete set of X-series component 6x9´s in the doors of my Honda Accord 2007. I had to stack 3 layers of MDF which is screwed directly into the steel door. I clad the door with sound deadening. And the door side is basically just sitting like a cover over it, as I cut a hole for the 6x9 to go in. It works but I dont feel like they are giving great mid bass. I am sure it has to do with my installation, and not the speakers themselves. Maybe they need more volume than what they get in my doors. I´m driving them with a Helix 4-channel amp. Although I think I´m just using 2 of the 4 channels. I bought the Helix and the type-X´s as part of a kit secondhand but unused. They were originally bought for some kind of Nissan Navara or something that has 6x9 in the front doors stock. The original X-series crossovers only limit the tweeter, and does not interfere with the mids, not sure how this affects the sound in my car in particular. I would guess you might get some interference between the tweeters and the mids but maybe not.

I am thinking about to change my front tweeters for one full range speakers ( CA WB3.e) . My doubt is if can i put this full range speakers ( 3 ohms) and the mis bass speakers (4 ohms) together in the same amplifier ( C four) ?? I know that the C four handle 2 and 4 ohms. But i don't know if can be used at the same time in separete channels speakers with diferent impendance. Thank you!
@pssound9749

What you mention is the nominal resistance of the voice coil. Impedance constantly changes during when the speaker plays, so the amp always sees different resistance. It’ll deal with anything just fine from 2ohm upwards.

Peter, the Steg ms30, vs the Brax Ml3. Is it worth the triple cost of the brax? Both are similar size and would fit perfect in my stock dash location. You use these ms30 often, i cannot fit the mss3. Need to know before I spend! Please help if possible.
@pssound9749
@pssound9749 5 күн бұрын
Hi, The MS30 as a cheaper 3” is great, can’t say bad about it. ML3 here is double cost. Whether it’s worth it or not is down to each individual’s budget. Realistically the real challenge is installation and tuning. Any of these speakers are great enough to get an awesome system, so that is not the weakest link.

@pssound here if you had gone for tweeters on sails the stage would be wide right..but then will it take more time for you to tune than this configuration? Which would be difficult for you?
@pssound9749
@pssound9749 5 күн бұрын
Stage would only be wider in the higher octaves and would split the image, which matters for competition, but not an issue for daily systems. When you have budget limitations, then there is another factor: labour and cost: it also takes longer to fabricate 4 separate speakers plus dragging extra speaker cables into the doors through a plug with pins. Just another thing to consider…

what are the crossover frequencies between rear sub+front sub, and front sub+midbass? (not necessarily in this car, just in general in a 5-way?)
@pssound9749
@pssound9749 6 күн бұрын
In general you’d cross the rear sub to the front one at 35-50Hz range, then the front ones to midbass in 70-100Hz range.

SPL is where bass becomes a pain (for some people that is fun though), probably above 145-150dB. This is not even close to it, but is a very capable SQ system that can hit concert levels.

Because we have worked with all those speaker brands in the last 8 years? That is exactly why we have real world experience to be transparent about everything we use or what we don’t use and we have thousands of people globally who trust us for a good reason! If you do a bit of research about AMT speaker technology, you’ll soon realise that what we explain in this video about our tweeters is not just made up! Yes, you may have a problem with the title like some others, but you wouldn’t have a problem hearing a system with these drivers! ✌🏼

@pssound Was there an option for this car to have midbass enclosure under seats..if there was an option like that, would it be possible to integrate with this 4" mids? And I hope RG100 are not in production now right.. which 4'' wide band ones currently good?
@pssound9749
@pssound9749 8 күн бұрын
This car has just been shared on our Patreon channel. It had just been rebuilt after many years of hibernation and now it has underseat midbass enclosures. Yes, you need 4” mids in that case for seamless integration. Currently i don’t think there is anything on the market as such a great wideband like the RG100. We use the MSS3 which has better lower midrange, pretty good as a wideband upto 15kHz, but it’s better to have a tweeter anyway. Even this car has tweeters now too.

How powerful do you need the sub to be for a sealed boot like this ?
@pssound9749

The more power you add, the more output the sub has, the more rattles you have to deal with too, so adding more power is not a solution really. You must open the boot to the cabin somehow.

Hi Peter. I absolutely agree with you concerning Tweeters or Fullranges. But when we're talking of a midrange which hands over to the tweeter around 2kHz and its frequency response under angle at crossover frequency +x is measured absolutely the same as on axis - why should this speaker be aimed? Its easy to build discreet a pillars with aimed tweeters, but an aimed midrange is always a massive difference in shape.
@pssound9749
@pssound9749 5 күн бұрын
Absolutely, important thing to consider. I gotta admit that since this old video we have built dozens of pillars for customers and usually the midrange gets more off-axis aiming for the reasons you mentioned above. We also learnt a lot since, just like locating the midrange in more optimal location than the pillar, but that is a different subject.
