Thank you. Great video. I really appreciate how you made it very clear which way the new gasket goes on while keeping the video short and to the point. Kudos!

Thank you SO much for posting this. My girl and i are taking on her oil change for the first time and when we saw the copper ring, we had NO idea wtf was going on. Your video provided us such a satisfying Aha Moment. Not only did you show every step involved with that ring, you also kept your video quick and to the point. Thank you!

I just bought a pack of this kind of gasket washer seal and had no idea which direction it should go in and this video helps. Also I never had any issue getting it out of the plug, but if it did get stuck to the drain plug, now I know how to get it out easily. Thanks!

I had not seen this kind of crush washer prior. I generally always get copper washers from the parts store. I appreciate the quick video with excellent quality. I wouldn't have thought to use a pocket knife and would have gone for a flat head screw driver. Your method is very effective. I appreciate the time and effort you made.

Great video thanks sir. The first oil change I did on my Maxima I didn't know how to take off the old washer and reused it. It was seeping but not enough to drop on ground. Second oil change I did exactly what you did with a new drain plug and a new washer. Works very good. Have a good day

Page EM-25 of the 2012 Nissan Versa Hatchback Shop Manual shows the washer being installed the way shown in this video. Which makes me happy because that's the way I guessed it should go before I saw the manual, or this video. I was used to the standard Subaru crush washer which is different.

This is the correct way. I just pulled the transmission plug off my Nissan Altima and it came from the factory the same way as in the video. Flat side toward the pan and rounded side with the notch toward the plug.

Transmission "washer" are rubber o ring, not a copper washer. They don't make them of copper.

been changing oil but not the plug or washer for years and never knew of a crush washer until today while watching another video. was headed to the nissan dealership after grabbing lunch then told myself there's a napa on the way home instead. the washer was $1.3x . tried a hardware store first and all they had were locking washers. im sure it'd been more expensive at the dealership or they could've just given it away free to get my business.

Thank you for posting a very clear video. Just to add a couple of points. Guys, don't over torque it, as guide, I have the same size drain plug and it 13Nm. It's nothing. You can alway give it a tweak if it seeps. Second: Is there a mechanic left in the world who doesn't own a set of Knipex Cobras?

Didn't realise how hotly debated this is on forums and other videos. My guess is flat side faces bolt. It's 50/50 online no concrete answer. But makes flat would go against flat bolt.
@polgi6233 жыл бұрын
I have a 2014 Infiniti Q50S and have always oriented the crush washer opposite to what you show. I place the flat portion against the drain plug and the rounded side with the notch against the oil pan. 72,000 miles and have never had a single leak. My conclusion is that I don't think it matters which way the washer faces. As long as you properly torque the plug to spec to ensure the washer crushes correctly either way will work fine.

Sorry bro, just showing you what Nissan trained me to do
@polgi6233 жыл бұрын
@@nginproject3097 No need to be sorry. You were trained how you were trained and there's nothing wrong with that. Just pointing out for people who overthink and worry about which way it should go that there's no "wrong way."

@@nginproject3097 Is this really how Nissan trained you to remove the gasket? My local (Canadian) dealership won’t confirm it lol.
@nginproject30973 жыл бұрын
@@nickolastiguan this is one of the method. The second method is to cut the gasket with pliers. I didn't have time make a second video on the second method. Video will come soon.

My 2016 NV3500 5.6 V8 owners manual says tighten to 25 ft lbs of torque for the engine oil drain plug. Also Nissan says to always use a New drain plug gasket, I have re used my old one several times, no leaks, yet. Best MPG have been 13.9, (4:10 rear gear ratio) unloaded at no more than 65 mph. This thing is a beast, I love blowing off the little rice burner at the lights. Lol Thanks for the video.
