Nissan e-NV200 T/M System Malfunction with DTC P0706 is not as scary as it might sound

Nissan e-NV200 electric vans have a common fault which results in the vehicle not going into part or being stuck in park. The corresponding warning message on the instrument cluster indicates a transmission (T/M) system malfunction, but the issue is actually very simple and easily fixed. Can you please elaborate on why it is best practice to disconnect the 12V battery in the ignition on, ready off state? I've always been taught that I should have the ignition off when disconnecting and reconnecting the 12v battery in ICEVs, HVs and EVs. In all other respects, thank you for a helpful and informative video!

I was going to ask the same question. Surely the inverter is charging the 12V battery in this state?

Yes, it's very strange way to disconnect 12V battery as he suggested in this video. As in doing so you might trigger some fault codes. And I see no reason why they want to disconnect it in the first place, as this work does not involve playing with electrical stuff, only few plugs disconnected. But I guess they want to make sure there is no liability on their side if something goes wrong.

@@GoGreenAutos Inverter charges 12V battery only in Ready state. At least it does so in LEAF.

Mein Auto hatte das gleiche Problem. Ich habe ein Loch in die Metallstange gebohrt und ein Gewinde M4 hineingeschnitten. Dann mit einer großen Beilagscheibe und einer M4 Schraube die schwarze Öse des Kabels an der Metallstange befestigt. Das hält wahrscheinlich besser als die original Gummihülse. My car had the same problem. I drilled a hole in the metal rod and cut an M4 thread into it. Then attach the black eyelet of the cable to the metal rod with a large washer and an M4 screw. This will probably hold up better than the original rubber sleeve.

Hi! Thanks for your video. I ordered the part on Nissan original service and changed it fallowing your video. Unfortunately the problem still exist. P-mode doesn’t work and the t/m system maltfunction is showing. Do I must to remove the system problem with diagnostic source like Leafs by pro?

Thanks for this. Now that I changed it, I still have the error message on the screen. I use Leaf Spy Pro with OBD dongle to read and delete DTC message, but it doesnt work...how can I delete message on the screen please?

Could you please help diagnose this fault? My E-NV200 has started making a loud clicking noise when allowing the regen to slow the car. It makes no noise when accelerating or coasting, or reversing. There are no fault codes either!!?? Have you come across this? It kinda sounds like the park detent is out of sequence and is trying to find its hole!!!!!!!

Perhaps a issue in the reduction drive or diff? We have also seen a very rare case where the motor stator was loose in its housing. It could also be something more simple like an axle nut coming loose.

Hi. No the Leaf is completely different in this sense. Only the van has a shifter cable. The Leaf has a fully electric actuator to select park.

@@markymark8472 A T/M fault shown on the instrument cluster can be caused by a lot of things. The next step would be to read the DTCs (fault codes) through the OBD2 port with a diagnostics tool. There are plenty of professional diagnostics tools that can do this if you take the car to someone, but the cheapest way to do this yourself would be using LeafSpy Pro (must be the Pro version).
