The Nissan dealer lost or broke my alternator tensioning bolt and the piece it goes through. Never told me. After the second time I got left stranded from a dead battery, I found out that it was missing and the alternator would get loose and not recharge the battery. Also, the belts would squeal.

USE OEM Belts, and your problem will go away! Aftermarket belts are slightly too wide, and the v groove is not correct for our pulleys. Using OEM belts fixed my issues. Plus, ensure you tighten them up properly. Too tight or too loose can cause these belts to make noise. I re-check the tension whenever I change the oil.

Can I run without an AC belt? My AC died a loooong time ago, and I have no intention of fixing it for a 2002 truck.
@Rocketsong3 ай бұрын
Yes. One of the advantages of the 3-belt system is you can run it without the A/C belt if your A/c compressor locks up. You can also run it without the front belt if you don' t mind not having power steering. The only one that is really mandatory is the center belt because that runs the fan and water pump.

@bootlegcustomshop41294 жыл бұрын
Wow! Is the belt slipping on the pulley? or is the pulley not spinning?

The pulley bolt also locks the tension bar, maybe somehow it is squeezing the pulley, and it cant spin? Wish I was there to see...

At first the pulley wasn’t moving so I backed off the bolt a little and it started to spin but still smoke would come out, I noticed the old hardware is rubbing with the bracket of the pulley because I also installed a new one on top of the first belt and there is some clearance and there is no smoke nor squeaks
