Nissan GT-R on Race Gas (Shell URT100 Octane)

Well, thanks to Central Florida rain this is all the footage I was able to put together from this day! Some people have asked me from my TTG on race gas video...why race gas? Read below...
When you're looking to make more power, one of the best ways to do it is to raise your boost and timing to higher levels--but to do this, you need a higher octane fuel.
In other words, high octane fuel doesn't necessarily make power on it's own---it allows you to run more boost and timing that you can with pump gas and that's what makes the power.
When you're running pump gas, you're very limited because if you try to run too much timing, you'll detonate, which, of course, results in the death of your engine.
The solution? Race fuel and race fuel tuning. By adjusting your timing curve for 100 octane gas (which can be done by many companies like Cobb, Superchips, HP Tuners, Hondata, APR, etc...) you can reach your car's true power potential safely. Part of the reason Shell URT100 is a great race fuel for street cars that see street and track time is that it's 100% street legal in all 50 states. It contains no lead, so it's safe even if you still have catalytic converters or O2 sensors (unlike VP fuels).
There are other 100 octane fuels available, but this one is the most consistent, and because it can be shipped directly to you in sealed 5 gallon pails or 55 gallon drums, you don't have to worry about old gas or fuel quality---a huge problem when you buy race gas at the pump. It's often been sitting for a long time, gets contaminated and in extreme cases can be even worse than pump gas.
Because it's street legal, you can drive to the track on Shell URT100, make your passes, switch to your 93 octane tune, top off with 93 octane at the gas station and drive home---it mixes safely and completely with pump gas. This way, you aren't scrambling at the track to switch tunes and make sure you're running 100% race gas. You can run all of the 93 octane out, fill it with 100 and race knowing you're protected against detonation.
Hopefully this has taught you something new! My Underground Racing Twin Turbo Gallardo is next up, but on the Shell URT Advanced race fuel! A 116 octane unleaded race gas...gonna be INSANE! Can't wait for that this week.

Nice man! 18 years old myself, have a decent sized business I have been running myself. Purchased a 12' Ram 1500 with a Hemi. That's pretty interesting. 100 Octane has always interested me. Or just fuel in general. Ever since I learned that unleaded for normal use is something like 90 octane and the super unleaded they sell here in the UK is like 95 octane. 100 octane fuel is the top end right? I mean 100 is the max?

What is missing from this video is a shot of the Cobb AccessPORT and any comparison of before/after the 100 octane fuel. Please give the viewer an idea of the performance increase instead of some adrenaline pumping sounds of revving the engine. It could 91 octane for all we know!

australia heas 98 octane pump fuel, (Shell V-Power, BP Ulitmate etc), and we also have 95 octane and 91 octane/E10. Most people i know use 98 for their cars, unless its their daily like a Yaris or something. But most new cars recommend atleast 95 octane. Does australia just get better fuel? I'm just curious as to why in the states its 93 octane then here its different.

I know a highway in Florida that goes straight for over 20 miles and barely has any traffic(you might see 1-2 cars the whole way) on it. I always max out my vehicles on it. My silverado will hit 100 easily until the governor kicks in. And I've been on a mustang down it at 140. There's also tons of bikes that go 140-160 on it.

Is this fuel something Special in America. This 100 octane fuel is avalable on every Shell gasstation in Germany. Its called V-Power Racing. I think at Aral you can get 102 octane fuel.

Germany's 102 octane is only 96 in the US. Shell URT 100 is like 105+ in Germany. Different scale.
