Nissan GU patrol interior conversion

Hey mate cracking video 👍 no dramas with the conversion apart from my series 4 indicator stalk has two plugs one with 2 wires and one with the rest, I've depinned and swapped into the big plug but at a loss as to what the other 2 wires are for

@Wells97 I going to assume that it has the fog light switche on it and that second plug is for the the fog lights. One wire will be parker feed in and the other one gos to the fog light relay.

@@35wheels yeah rogey mate! Strange as there's no extra fog light switch on it! I'll have another crack this arvo and comment on here what I find for future reference

@Wells97 ok so some had the switch and some didn't but the car might have been pre wired for it. So all they that to do if someone wanted the fog light they would change the stork with the fog light switch add the relay and put the lights in.

Yeh it can be done to gu 1 2 and 3 wagons and all utes

Hey mate great video. I’m in the proses of doin the same conversion. As you can only get new dash pads that are dark grey just wanted to get your option how it looks with the door trims being black? Not sure if I should find a good condition black dash or go the dark grey. Thanks mate

Thanks yeh you dont notice it unless you looking for it. There not that much different from the door trims. And youll pay a lot more for a black dash over a new one

Thanks I got it from patrol a part in vic Australia or you can get it from ebay. Yeh esay as to do it bolts strat in

Hey mate, you say the S4 indicator stalks are the same plugs? I’m in the process of doing the conversion but the s4 indicator stalks I have got have different plugs. Only reason I got the s4 indicator stalk is the s3 ones in the Ute no longer work with the s4 dash loom iv put in. So my question is do you HAVE to use the s4 indicator stalk for the indicators to work?

I still have my standard loom and i pluged the s3 stalk in to it

when changing the steering column can you just plug in the s4 airbag on the s1 loom does that work?

That im not sure on as my car didnt come with a airbag.

Hey mate. Have you got a wiring diagram for the wiper stalks.

I just got the off cuts from a s4 depined my plugs and unpinned the s4 one one at a time and put my wires in to the s4 plugs or you can cut and join the wires there the same colours or if you doing it to a wagon it will the s4 wiper stalk will just plug in only utes you have to fuck around with the plug.

Is that your old cluster mounted in this video? do you have to change it if you’re not fussed about it not fitting up perfectly? Cheers

Yeh, the older cluster do fit their is no mod need. it will bolt in there. There are just some small gaps on the edges

Hey mate I’m about to do a s4 interior conversion on a 2001 dx ute, is the steering column required or can I use my current one and put all the s4 plastics and steering wheel around it?

You'll need an s4 steering column.

did you need the s4 crush bar from behind the dash or does the s1-3 work fine with the s4 dash

Hi no there not the way they mount are different you will need to get a s4 column

Yes in needs to be changed so you can mount the indecators and wiper storks

Hey mate, I’ve heard you also have to change the crash bar behind the dash from the s3 one to S4 bar, is that true of did it all bolt straight in on the s3 bar?

Yeh it bolts up to the s3 mounting spots

@@35wheels done everything else so far, but haven’t started the cluster

@@jakecollings2855 so i got a s4 td42 cluster and the plugs with about 100mm off wire on them. I then used the haynes work shop manual for the cluster pin outs and cross reference both cluster then played mach the wire. You can use a zd30 cluster but i couldnt work the rev module out thats why i went td cluster

@rileywakeling553 yeh I have sort off I have a st but when I add all the ti stuff i used a dx loom you will need a wagon dash loom and door looms and the windows regs thats the esayer way but you have to swap the door plug on the body side. Or you get a st ute loom and door loom and reg there reg can come from utes or wagons.

​@35wheels yeh ok cool, yeh cause i was going to to run s4 st gu doors then would have to change plug on cab end to fit s4 plug. Just wasnt sure if id have to run more wires from the cab to make eindows work..?

@rileywakeling553 one more thing if you are going to use a loo. From a wagon, it has to come from an s1 or s2 wagon (1998-2000) in the s3 and up they charged the way it is wires. All the utes are the same though.

​@35wheels whats the chances of a st ute door loom fitting into a s4 door haha? Trying to keep these doors as there straight as and rust free which gu doors like that are hard to come by these days aha.

Hey man did you use a s4 harness or did u just adapted your Ute one

The sub tank botton you need to get the plug and some loom and just match the wires the wiper and indecators you can depin the ute ones and repin them in to the s4 plug

Its all the same just get the loom out off a si s2 or s3 ti and the climate displays everything else is the same

@crapcopter s1 and 2 have different cluster plugs when they when to s3 the put the body control module in the cluster and changed the plugs

Nah its esay as i can get the s3 one out in 30 to 40 mine and same with the s4 the first time it took a bit longer.
