From a rusted out 4WD with a blown engine to a BMW M57 3.0L Turbo Diesel 6 Cylinder, and the 3rd person in Australia to do this! Jesse has transformed this dead GU into his ultimate dream Nissan Tourer!

Great car. Here in Poland we've got more Patrols with BMW engines than stock ones. But a patrol with tuner 3.0d BMW engine with over 330HP with 8hp gearbox goes nicely. Cheers.

I ❤ watching this. I have a 1998 GU patrol in my backyard sitting doing nothing as its got gas fitted to a motor that the gas isn't 100% compatible with so driving it had to stop as it now sounds like a loud old lawnmower. I'm no mechanic and did not put the gas in. It was already in when i purchased the 4x4 back in 2013. Don't really know what to do with it but can't bring myself to sell it while it can't be driven. This episode is giving me ideas that I would not have thought to do and its inspiring me to get moving to start getting it drivable again. Thanks Jesse for the inspiration. Great to see another nissan supporter here on the sunny GC (gold coast)

As a friend of a bmw fan id recommend going to bmw and grabbing those 4 rubber orings that go between the valve body and case over time they can compress and allow fluid to slip past the seal resulting in delayed shifts 👍

Awesome will be following this build closely. I recently purchased a GU1V ZD30 myself. Jesse I removed bubbled dash and cleaned of all the old glue & vinyl covering (what a mess ) Recovered myself with Car Builders 4 way stretch carpet and their high temp spray adhesive. Came up mint. :)

M57 is now replaced with a B57 which is used in the Ineos Grenadier. Tuned for offroading and touring.

For what you do, I reckon those console sized kings fridges are the go. The are modular, so two can be moved around based in what you're doing. Otherwise I just put an upright in the back of the wagon to get rid of the need for a fridge slide. No more rattle from the slide when on tracks and easier access

You won’t regret it , I have a GU m57 patrol with a stock bmw 6 speed gearbox matted to a patrol transfer case. 1150 NM of fun!!!

For you touring set up I definitely recommend Milwaukee packout drawers light weight and if you need space in the back during the week or for tools you can unlock them and they come straight out

Shaping up nicely, will be really interesting to see how the BMW donk performs - considering that this is basically the engine that's going in the new Grenadier. Love the green highlights on the shocks - that could be an inspiration for later on, green highlights on the GU to finish it off.
