Nissan Laurel “Givenchy Version” returns back to Nissan after 40 years

"Daimaru Villa" was built in 1933 as the residence of the Shimomura family, who founded the Daimaru Department Store. The Villa was designed by W. M. Vories & Company Architects and is now a tangible cultural property registered by Kyoto City.
The 1982 Nissan Laurel Givenchy Version, which was loved by the second owner of the Daimaru Villa, Shotaro Shimomura the 12th, was kept in the garage on the premises for many years.
Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store Co., Ltd., which manages the Shimomura family and Daimaru Villa, has decided to donate it to the Nissan Heritage Collection.
Seiji Matsuo, the manager, also introduced valuable episodes related to Mr. Shotaro Shimomura the 12th, who was the owner of this "Laurel Givenchy Version", and Mr. Hubert de Givenchy.
After carrying out necessary maintenance and repairs, this car will be prepared for exposure as one of the Nissan Heritage Collection.

ジバンシィと独占契約を結んでいた大丸の社長の愛車がローレルジバンシィバージョンだったとは。しかもジバンシィご本人とオードリー・ヘプバーンを乗せた事があると言う、これ以上はない名車です。

This particular model of Laurel had the L20ET engine. See details below. The L20ET is a turbo engine developed from the L20E. It is a 12-valve, six-cylinder, fuel-injected engine with a single chain driven cam, turbo (non intercooled), and a non crossflow head. It produces 145 PS (107 kW; 143 hp). It was released in the late 1970s [13] and fitted to the Skyline C210 and R30, Laurel, Leopard, Cedric, Gloria, and early Fairlady Z lines of automobiles. This engine was the first engine out of Japan to ever receive a turbo.

過去の名車のレストアという今の日産さんで数少ない、残されている良心の部分だと思います。このジバンシィバージョンや座間の数百台のヘリテージコレクションなど過去の名車は後世のためにしっかり保管してもらいたいです。

日産自動車もこのローレルがあったころ、70年から90年台には魅力的な車がたくさんあって大好きでしたが、ローレルもなくなり、セドリック、グロリアもなくなりブルーバードもなくなりサニーもなくなり今のところ新車では欲しいなと思う車がないのが寂しい限りです。日産自動車様戯言を言って大変申し訳ございません。
