Nissan Leaf - Regenerating braking

One of the reasons why an electric car is so efficient is the regenerating braking system that is implemented in the car. In a normal car the braking energy is just disappearing as heat but in an electric car the energy is captured and put back in the battery. In the Nissan leaf there is 2 driving moods, the normal D-mode and the B- mode (braking mode) The B-mode makes the car brake as soon as to release the gas pedal, making it possible to only drive with one pedal and only use the braking paddle when it is absolutely necessary.

that was helpful. gonna get mine soon and nobody had really explained that properly to me. they just said it automatically is set when in drive. clearly thats not true. looks like it needs to be double clicked to select B mode. thanks for this video.

Based upon total energy consumed in your example, you're getting 14.5% regen energy?

How about going downhill? Is it better to put it in neutral or keep it in gear. In gear there is resistance that prevents speed but maybe also is generating electricity?

Surely its more efficient as a car because it makes less heat so loses less energy. Regen doesn't seem to regain that much overall.

With the Old Leaf it was like this, but with new EVs like my Tesla that I drive today the braking lights turns on when the regenerative braking is activated.

How did you calculated the numbers in the kWh ? Are those can be recorded for trip , that means for each trip how many kWh's been used and all ? if possible how ... Great video and great explanations

All this statistic is collected by the cars computer and sent thru the telematics system to Nissan. Then thy present the statistics at the personal Nissan account webpage protected by a username and password.
