NISSAN NRV II - Old Australian "Towards 2000" TV Show.
Recorded from an ancient VHS video from 1983. The NRV II features a number of technologies only just becoming available today on passenger cars. Really cool to see what the Japanese were working on way back then.

Well it is only a research vehicle not commercial production. It is very strange that they could do that but still Nissan 20 30 years later went downwards. That is coward management and marketing people!

Almost 40 years later and collision avoidance is still an optional extra... Imagine how many other safety features could have been done decades earlier, and save countless lives, but it wasn't cheap enough.
@opiel16
@opiel16 2 жыл бұрын
If you care about your safety so much you can always pay the extra to get the safety features. Or maybe you mean that the car producers should give up the additional revenue and pay for your safety for you?

You misunderstood.He says that since technological solutions existed before their time,companies needed to focus on peoples safety and make them available to the open public.What we see here was productable and with the proper collaborations more companies could have incorporated such technology much earlier and save more lives,help people save fuel and become better drivers...But because everyone then and now is fueled by irrational pride and have their minds mostly to profit or selling more units with in fact old technologies presented as new inventions...Car companies rivalry and marketing executives led to this...Imagine if this was mass produced and installed on standard equipment,how faster youd reach your destination,spending less fuel,helping the environment,staying focused on the wheel with voice commands...How much more people would be alive and avoid crashes if abs was standard from back then...Not to mention airbags etc...Technology should be universal and oriented and standard for humane purposes,for saving lives...Not everything is marketing,not every techbological achievement should be considered richmans equipment...You want to stand out?Gold plate your car...But technological achievements that make life easier and save lives?Should always have been standard equipment...Before you comment,all the technology expertise should be ackknowledged and paid for future improvement.Goverments could have help and still can. Dont divide,unite and not everything should be marketing.With a little more money and funds,cars could have been safer and lives saved...Think about it...@@opiel16

Japanese always were ahead in technology. That's why I admire everything that is made in Japan, I believe that the Japanese build the highest quality products, the most reliable and they are cheap. All my friends drive German cars, even my father but I drive a Japanese one and it never breaks down, I also pay only a few bucks for maintenance.

No, capacitive touch screens have been around since the early 1980s. Casio even had a touch screen watch in 1983. My Toyota soarer has a touch screen lcd control system and was made in 1991

@hal0eight
@hal0eight 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, probably driven by IR sensors around the screen. I don't think they had resistive or capacitve touch screens at the time. I also remember as a kid using touch screens that had a micro button matrix in the glass, so that could be another way of making it work. My Soarer uses an IR matrix around the screen.
