I'm making a camper with NV200 now. It was very helpful. Thank you.

Looking at mine now. Definitely going with sections of flooring. I have to reinstall my rear seat for it to pass inspection. I didn’t know about the fuel pump, and two sections will solve that. Not sure about those door panels but I’m guess they’ll stay.

Off to a good start! Be sure to look at as many videos on van builds, bus builds and tiny houses because there are so many great builds and ideas that might save you from going crazy trying to figure out problem areas or just plain old plans and layouts for everything.

Why not just put the insulation over the mat? I see padding on the bottom. Wouldn't that be extra insulation?
@senseofstile5 жыл бұрын
Makes sense
@ChrisGoesOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
The mat had some type of ipadding/nsulation on the bottom of it, mainly didnt put it under as I am not sure how it would hold up over time and if there could be a mold issue with condensation over time. Also I was initially planning to glue the 1" insulation right down to the van which I would not have been able to do with the mat underneath. It also saves about 1/4" to 1/2" of height by not having it. While that may seem like a small amount I am really trying to maximize the inner height as much as possible since its pretty limited to begin with
@mattgauthier72165 жыл бұрын
You could use a 4x8 piece of paneling board for flooring. Looks good and is relatively cheap.
@ChrisGoesOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Thats what I ended up using. I think its actually intended for walls so I dont know exactly how waterproof it maybe but it was super easy and it looks nice haha

I thought about it but really want all I can get from the roof height. The bed should double as a substantial amount storage. Or so I hope!

I’m not sure if you’ve done it already but check if that spray adhesive is safe to use on styrofoam. Some adhesives will melt it.

It’s got a foil / paper coating over it so they luckily glued together no problem! That video will be out probably mid this week

Hi Chris! I’ll be getting a 2019 NV200 in December. Just curious - what are the interior measurements of the wheel wells? Great videos!
@ChrisGoesOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
48 inches between the wheel wells
@justsimplydizzy15 жыл бұрын
Thanks - Was looking for the measurement for the actual wheel well - height at center.....length from front to back from floor and I believe the width is about 3 inches. Looking for bed options that would fit over the wheel well.
@MrDlcurren4 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisGoesOutdoors Is it exactly 48 inches, or a bit more? Like 48.5 inches?

Good job on the van. I would probably put the plastic moulding back or the door may rattle. Of course from my view I am not sure if that's what it is for.
@ChrisGoesOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
The insulation actually tucks perfectly underneath the door so no rattle. Got the floor in already so that video should be out soonish. I left both the side door mouldings as they actually cover up some wiring but the rear one I may spary some like plastidip or something. I discuss it I think in the next video!

Hi Chris. I also want to convert a NV200. Glad I found your videos. Looking forward to watching your build. 1 inch seems like a lot of insulation, what kind of weather do you plan on van camping in?
@ChrisGoesOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
New England weather so could easily be in the negatives on some nights I plan to take it out during winter and probably 80s-90s over summer. I’ll be using a mix of thnsulate and the rest of the 1” insulation I have for the roof and the walls.
@Zerpersande Жыл бұрын
I’m going to start with aluminized rubber foam sound/heat insulation in the low areas followed the foam/aluminum camping like stuff over the entire flooring then plywood. I want soundproofing so it doesn’t sound like I’m in a tin can plus improved heat retention.
@ctmyas2 жыл бұрын
why cant you leave the floor in and just put insulation over it?
@CyborgMaMa5 жыл бұрын
Hi! Great video! I have a NV2500 with the rubber insulated mat. Folks are telling me to build on top of the mat. You didn’t. Why? Thank you!!

This maybe the case if there is a divider separating the front and back. I ran the floor right up to the back of the sliders for the seats and its right around 85 inches. Im 6ft exactly, just slept on the floor of it this weekend. Had no issues with the distance at all

@@ChrisGoesOutdoors In the specification I have here, it says 204 cm, which is 6'8", so plenty long enough. Personally...I wouldn't put insulation on the floor. It's just going to subtract from the little headroom you'll have when you insulate the ceiling. Just plywood to level the floor & vinyl sheet on top should be fine.
